I may be in the UAE for several months. Does anyone know what if any hunting might be available there? I thought that birds, Doves, Pidgeons might be the most likely?

Saeed would know. You might send him a PM as I don't think he watches this page often. LDK

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

UAE I doubt they will let foreigners hunt anything there. Best you can do is shoot some Trap and Skeet with rented shotguns at a shooting range.

Here are some other options for you.

PAKISTAN:
About an hour flight from Dubai and you will be in Karachi. Check with "Pir_Danish" in Asian Hunting Forum. He can arrange a bird hunt for you in the province of Sindh.

AZERBAIJAN:
About a 3 hour flight from Dubai, and you can hunt one of the best bird destinations in Central Asia. I can put you in touch with the folks only if this is a serious inquiry.

EGYPT:
Waterfowl hunting is available, search Facebook for Egypt Waterfowl guides and you should get in touch with the people.

KENYA:
Not a long flight from Dubai, you can hunt francolins, pigeons, doves, guineafowl in beautiful tented camps.

Thanks both of you for the ideas. Things are in the very early stages of planning. If I go I may have to settle for the Trap/Skeet range. I'm not sure how much time off I would have, but I don't think I would be able to make multi day trips. Maybe there's some good fishing.

Wilhem

UAE has some excellent fishing especially for sail fish if you get the times right. I think April is peak season.

There used to be good pigeon shooting there but I am told that is not really the case any more. However you may get lucky and hook up with one of the local guys who may be able to take you out for a day of falconry.

If you need a contact my Arabic hunting buddy has a rep in Abu Dhabi so I could try and put you in touch. Pm me as your plans develop and I can see what we might be able to help with.

Rgds,
K
