@Small Bore

Waterfowl that I can see in the pics:

- Egyptian Goose
- Yellow-billed Duck
- Red-billed Teal

I am not familiar with a species called "Rosy Bill Teal".
It may be a local name for something. There is a "Rosy-billed Pochard" but it is found in South America.

Hopefully Fallow Buck will post the list of species in the pics.

We do not have a Rosy bill teal in Africa. He is probably referring to the Cape Teal - with its rose coloured bill.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Hey guys,

Sorry for not dropping in but I've been in town for two weeks and heading out for our next two weeks of hunting in africa on wednesday so it has been a bit hectic.

In terms of waterfowl we shot
Egyptian geese
Yellow bill duck
Red billed teal
We got a single black faced duck and the guys all missed the spur wings.

With the drought this year we were light on the number of ducks shot however on this coming trip we are hunting waterfowl and snipe for three days at the end so I hope to bag more species of ducks.

I'm also travelling with a camera man and a proper video camera so I'm hoping to put some good footage together for everyone.

Other species were

Swainsons spur fowl
Orange river francolin
Button quail
Scrub hare
Helmeted guineas
Snipe
Coots
Red eyed dove
Turtle dove
Laughing dove
Rock pigeons

The funny thing is that for the last three to four years these hunts always yield 16-18 species in a week. However the variation each year is phenomenal and this year some of the usual suspects eluded us.

I will try and get a species list for you over the next couple of weeks with a photo log.

I am going to have better wifi access this time to so keep an eye on the AHT Facebook page for daily updates and hunt reports.

Rgds,
Kiri
