Good reports from friends/clients/guides on this years Teal season. Many reporting full limits (6 Teal) with 5-6 hunters in the blinds. The central flyway is especially doing well but Tennessee opened yesterday and reports are good in many areas. Early Teal season was not kind to me....it closed on the 7th and I managed to get in 3 hunts in our short 7 days season. I only seen birds on one hunt and nothing close enough to give it a go. Early goose closes on the 15th..try to scratch out a few birds in the next couple days. | |||

I sent LDK a picture of my Teal season opener in Edna, Texas. I was hunting with Will Granberry of Avian Skies. There were 6 of us. We all shot limits of 6 in less than 45 minutes. 36 blue-winged Teal from 0648-0730. I used my Cynergy Sporting 28ga. It was a real hoot. I'll admit I missed a few and wound up firing 20rnds. Thinking of going back this Saturday and doing it again. Maybe I take my 16ga this time. Those mornings are exciting and due to the time of year, great be ahead of the rising Sun and heat. Terrible teal season in our area. I hunted alligators on my property this past weekend and saw no teal. I also read that the aerial teal survey is officially the second-lowest on record in Louisiana. Maybe duck season will be better. | |||

Resident..."Walmart geese"  Resident birds love the horse pastures..high flying migrators, not so much. I had 2 large flocks of migrators take a look, but they moved on despite my best calling and flagging techniques.  Corn hasn't come off the fields yet...so cut wheat fields are being hunted hard in my area. | |||

I know that feeling. Our resident flock of "giants" has spread in great numbers across our State and mostly what we take during the various Canada goose seasons.
