I just returned from chasing ducks and perdiz in Buenos Aires province, Argentina with Pointer Outfitters, and had a great trip. Everything about this trip was top notch. Argentina and the Argentinian people are a delight. We hunted five days and played tourist in Buenos Aires for four. The hunting was a lot of fun and Buenos Aires is a foodie's heaven. While some of the duck species are similar to what we have here in the States, the only one we shot that was the same was one Cinnamon Teal. In addition to the Cinnamon Teal, we shot Red Shoveler, Silver Teal, Black-headed Duck, Yellow-billed Pintail, Yellow-billed Teal, Rosy-billed Pouchard, Chiloe Wigeon, and White Cheeked Pintail. The most common were Silver Teal and Rosy-billed Pouchard. My only regret is that we could not bring any back ducks, either as mounts or to have mounts done here on. The chef in the lodge prepared wondrous meals and we did eat a bunch of the ducks. What we didn't eat went to the locals. As for Perdiz, what a cool little bird. They are essentially a chuckar-sized ostrich that flies and flushes like a quail, but only in ones and twos. We hunted over a Brittany and an English Pointer, and the dogs slink through the grass when they are on birds since the cover is only a little more than ankle high. The meat is comparable to Ruffed Grouse in texture, look, and taste (yummy). I see a return trip in my future, finances willing.

Sounds like a great trip! We returned from a similar hunt (ducks and Perdiz) with Pointer Outfitters the first week of July. We stayed at their Las Rosas lodge about two hours out of Buenos Aires. We just booked a red stag hunt for 2027. Looking forward to that hunt too.

Pointer does a great job. Had a fantastic duck hunt a couple years ago.
