Spent the weekend at Catskill Pheasantry in Long Eddy, NY this weekend with a good friend and his wife. My wife was also supposed to be along, but had to stay home due to a sick baby (thankfully only an ear infection).

I purchased this hunt at auction at the SCI Tri State Chapter (NYC) banquet last May. We had a fantastic time and met some really nice people up at the Pheasantry. We were the only guests in the lodge this weekend due to cancellations due to the cold weather. The lodge was very comfortable and wonderfully warm when we arrived.

We woke up to -4*F on Saturday and were out in the field by 0900 over two spunky GSP's. Both the guide and his dogs were a blast to be around and fun to hunt with. It was cold, but luckily not too windy. We ended up putting up 18 of the 20 birds put out, and shot 15 of them (one missing from the photos as I probably should've waited a *tad* longer before putting 1.25oz through him at 1500fps. He landed in three pieces in three different places....).

We shot a bit of 5 stand in the afternoon, but only made it through two rounds of 25 due to the increased wind. Being a trap shooter, I will say the crossing targets and doubles (I've only shot singles and handicap for the past 3 years) were quite humbling. We're looking forward to getting back up there in the warmer weather to shoot their two sporting clays courses and some 5-stand and FITASC.

I don't. We usually hunt pheasant down in Pennsylvania at Faith's.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
