A bunch of us went to the feedlot to shoot Eurasian doves, starlings and pigeons. We spread out to keep the birds moving. I killed about 80 doves. Most guys shoot 4-6 boxes of shells in about 4 hours. Good sport and practice not to mention helping the farmer. We plan shoots every couple weeks through the winter.
My friend is cooking up some fancy dish with these birds.

My brother and I once did that very thing, but it was with Red Riders in the barn yard. Great fun though. Thanks for sharing.

Well done Bobby used to do a lot of that on the High Line at the feed stores. Great training for young dogs.

I've seen two collared doves in TN but many in the Florida panhandle. They are not protected in TN but so far we've not seen enough to make any difference. That would be some fun shooting!

There is a lot of Eurasian Collared dove in Arizona, I can see three sitting on the wall right now. No limit, all year season, just don't shoot native doves out of season.

I remember seeing my first ECD in Utah in 2010. Now, we shoot 10-20 out of my dad's backyard every week. If you've started seeing them in TN, give it a couple years and you'll be swimming in them.

Same in California, season runs all year round, but haven't seen any of them. I suppose I just don't know where to look.

Many years ago in Mexico at a train cantaloupe dump, where about a mile of rotten cantalopes got dumped for various reasons, We hunted White wing Dove, and you could kill as many as your shoulder could stand, some used .410 to be able to shoot more..It was almost scary to put on hip waders and walk through that mess, you couldn't see the sky for the birds, not to mention the blue quail on the edges...We took the quail to the ranchers house and his cooks Bar B qued them over mesquite coals with a Jalapeno inside and a beacon strip on the outside, and we all foundered ourselves, if you've eaten 10 to 12 grail breasts with a Jalapeno pepper inside them, do not try bending over and tying your shoes the next morning!!! flame

Was actually surprised to see Eurasian Collared doves here, a couple of years ago. Seem to be coming more common and you have to wonder how they're affecting the native Mourning doves.

From what I have heard they are kicking the morning dove out of their nest.

According to the biologists for Wa State, the collared are dominating the Mourning Dove by taking over the habitat. there is no closed season and no bag limit in the attempt to rid the area of them, but the bozo transplanted people here made the valley a no shooting zone, so the only way we can get them is with a hav-a-hart trap. Thanks for sending your problems north.
