Well, my grandson out-shot me 4 to 1 this morning, and ancient Rocky had a great time. He pointed well and found two cripples we were about to give up on. Scenting conditions couldn't have been better with good moisture from some light rains two days ago and a light breeze from the west, perfect for hunting my small farm.

Owen was using his Weatherby SA-08 he got from John Barsness, and I was fumbling with my fairly new Kreighoff 16ga/7X65R drilling.

Time to clean birds for tonight's dinner and cut cockle-burs out of old Rock's feathers. We only take what we want for a meal, and my quail numbers are well stabilized, accordingly.

Well done, mister. Taking just enough quail for dinner -- with your grandson? Priceless!

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
