I hope I never get too old to feel like doing this kind of stuff....I do love the woods and waters in spring!

Came in quiet 45 minutes after he stopped responding to calls.

Thought he was sneaky.... Big Grin

Turkey pot pie on the menu!

How long are those spurs? Looks like an older bird for sure.

Congratulations!

God Bless, Louis

Thanks.

The spurs are just a shy over 3/4", so lets say 13/16ths.

The beard is 10"

Not a monster but a nice bird and an enjoyable hunt. Turkey hunting is such a game. What works one day does not work the next, and being outsmarted by a bird day after day is enough to drive anyone crazy. But success is so sweet after a few lost battles. Neat time of year to be in the woods too.

This bird just came out of the oven this morning actually. His meat has been pulled and shredded from the bone and will be in the pot pie tonight topped by home made biscuits.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
