I enjoy hunting Turkey but have never been "bitten" by the bug. Strange...I've had a passion for hunting ducks, geese and upland birds for years. There's something about calling in a flock of waterfowl that really pushes my buttons, nothing like it. Same for Deer, Elk, Antelope and predators; I love calling them into range as much as taking one. Today was a fun day. My good friend had invited me to go Turkey hunting with him for several years. Last year I was set to go when we were hit by a catastropic flood here in TN. This year we made it happen and today (4-7-2011) at 4:40pm, I took a fine Tom with two beards. He weighed in at 22 pounds. Today was a good day to be in the woods. Going back in the morning. Thanks fella's. This morning I shot a 17 pounder with two beards (same place as yesterday). The main beard is 10" but it has 3 hairs that measure 15-15.25 inches. I'm told the longest hair is what counts. Cool beans to me! Look close and you can see the long hairs. Thanx nube, I shot 4 Rio's in TX a couple of years ago but had never taken an Eastern here at home. Hunted them maybe 10-12 times but no cigar. My good friend Mark took me a couple of days last week and we hit gold. He shot another tom yesterday. Hopefully, I'll get to go again soon. They taste 100% better than store bought turkey's.
