Outfitter: Mark Meissenburg Panhandle's Best, Inc. 5326 Briar Street Amarillo, Texas 79109 Web Site: http://www.panhandlesbest.com/ Phone: 806-467-0273 Birds Hunted: Sandhill Cranes, Ducks and Geese I have discovered that bird hunts are easy to do even with a busy schedule so I have decided to go on at least a couple of good bird hunts a year, this gives me an opportunity to get together with friends from around the country and go hunting between rifle hunts. This was my second hunt with Mark. He is one of the best Sandhill crane outfitters in Texas and during the morning hunts 9 out of 10 times everyone in the group will get a limit of cranes (3 birds). The secret to Marks success is meticulous scouting, he will never take you to a field that he or one of his guides has not scouted for a couple of days prior to your hunt. The second is his exceptional knowledge of the bird’s behavior and the third is the use of mounted birds as decoys. Mark also has excellent duck and goose hunting. You will never be taken to a pond or field that has not been scouted the day prior to your hunt. The first day there were only two of us and we decided to hunt ducks. I must confess that I am not very good with a shotgun, yet we had our limit of 5 ducks each within an hour. That afternoon we hunted cranes and again got our limits. The next day a third friend with his 12 year old son joined us and we hunted geese and ducks in the morning, each one of us got our 4 goose limit within an hour and fifteen minutes along with about 14 ducks. That afternoon and the following morning we again hunted sandhill cranes and shot our limits. The ducks and geese can only be successfully hunted in the morning while the cranes can be hunted both in the morning and evening. The morning is still the best time for cranes, during the evening hunt for cranes everyone may not get their limit but most will. Regards Aziz | ||

As always, awesome report Aziz! Have to do that some day, especially the crane part. A buddy has told me that there's no better eating waterfowl. Did you guys get to sample any of them? I see GWT, mallards, widgeon, geese and cranes, which is not a bad wee selection at all, and great to see the lad out there with you gents. Thanks for sharing.
