thought that we'd be really getting after the geese this year. Had our pit in the middle of the corn but the weather in SW idaho sucked.
Had about 3 months of sunny clear and warm days

did manage a few birds enjoy

Birds decoying

My son retrieving a bird

My buddies lab working

Had the canon 40d in hand instead of the o/u but still made the shot on this guy

Snow geese are fairly uncommon in Idaho. I caught these guys for a photo op. My hunting buddies are extremely patient when I ask them to let the birds make one more pass so I can get a good pic. Of course they didn't and we missed out on the shot
these pics are cropped from probably 75 yards

of course one had a neck band

our season is over

cheers till next season

weather sucked here too Sid. Rain and warm temps. Yesterday we closed duck with goose and duck limits so one day out of 60, and we supposedly had the most ducks down the flyway since the count began in '55. Couldn't prove it here. Great pics, thanks for posting. LDK

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Looks like a leg band on the lower left goose, first photo, but it may be just the way the light is...

Excellent photos. That rooster pheasant pic is gorgeous!

Sidnye-

Where do you hunt in SW Idaho? I used to hunt up that way out of Caldwell just below the Lake Lowell Damn ( Deer Flat NWR ).

Unfortunately, the long seasons and large bag limits have greatly reduced the local goose populations in SW Idaho. Deer Flat nesting surveys show that decisively.

The Decoy had great Hamburgers!

We hunted on property owned by the Hoadley family for geese Gordy Crockett had the pit and we hunted on the lake for Ducks. Man there where a bunch of ducks in those days.

I hunted with Gordy and Don Vaughn and Mike Isom, I'd sure like to see those guys again. They where some fine fellows.
