Nice.....thinking about northern ME this year to look for a king.....have to research what the chances are.....fairly slim I'd venture. | |||

Thanks David. @Norton Kings do come down to coastal Maine, the southern most shot recently was in Rhode Island. So I would not say that chances are zero...chances are slim...it is possible. If you are there at the right time. What happens for Kings is that the hens and first year young ones usually migrate further south and earlier...the mature Kings usually tough out the colder weather (as long as water is ice free). So you possibly have a better chance of bagging a female King or a Juvy King than a fully mature King. What is a fully mature King Eider ? Answer: A 4+ year old male. | |||
