Had a great hunt with Capt Jack Renfrew in MA. We had some weather move in the second day so we hunted divers. Here's our limit of Eider's on the first morning. I took my limit of Brant that afternoon. It was a great hunt and his Lab Gunner is a great retriever. I'll be back next year for sure. If anyone wants to join me drop me a line. I would love to hunt sea ducks. Perhaps next year during the break in the season........Road trip! Looks like those are pretty large birds. Don't ask me what happened, when I left Viet Nam, we were winning. | |||

Eider's are large birds and a lot of fun to hunt. They decoy very well and no calling is needed. Same goes for Scoters which there are 3 species on our east coast: Black/common, Surf and White wing. The clever bird is the Old Squaw (never call them long tails in MA). They can be very difficult at times but a good plan will put them on the deck. In MA your allowed 7 per day but only 4 of one species. Brant are common and you may add 2 per day to your bag. Don't forget possession limits apply. Ducks are also abundant in MA and we had one day of very enjoyable diver hunting. I took a pair of drake Buffleheads, a pair of Bluebill's (lesser Scaup) and a large drake Goldeneye. I love the area. Russell, your welcome to join me next year. Message me if you want details. I won't pick a date until the 2013-2014 seasons are set in late summer but it will most likely be Dec or Jan.
