I haven't hunted Doves extensively but have expended a few boxes of shells at them. Something that I noticed while shooting at them is that when they were headed straight in towards me they would do a little snap roll right as I fired. It seemed to me that they could actually see the flash coming out of the barrel and would try and dodge the shot. Am I nuts or has anyone else noticed the same thing?............................DJ

They are responding to movement. Doves are fast, but not that fast. Methods to improve your shooting depends upon whether your an instinct or follow through shooter. Try to remain motionless until your ready to mount your gun. If you shoot instinct, your shot should be taken instantly, and ahead of the bird. If you follow through, the bird will react to your initial movement, but plane out on his original course, giving you time to over take his forward motion and fire. Be sure your continuing your swing after you squeeze the trigger. Doves are some of the best fun in bird shooting and will make you a better shot with practice. You might want to join us sometime in Argentina. Doves by the millions and all the shooting you could ever want. Good hunting, David

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
