Hi Safarikid:

Sorry I didn't get a chance to shoot your gun, sort of;-)

Anyway, for what it's worth: somewhere inbetween these two barrel lengths the 430 grain 1350 fps hits maximum velocity:

I thought it was real cool that with a shroud length barrel, Jack's BFR, we were getting complete powder burn, and velocity at that length barrel. No increase going longer, either, as we found out with this gun:

REALLY do enjoy testing your guns:-) Thanks
and always a pleasure emailing you, even if I couldn't afford that titanium action for the 458 Lott...

Yes, it is. I enjoyed shooting both, and the chronograph data I found was fascinating. Pretty amazing that with the 430-440 grain bullets you can get complete velocity in 4" or less barrels.

Would have bought the snubby if I had 2k laying around at the time...

I've got to ask:

What do you use those 50-110 revolvers for, and the other long cylinder snubbies?

GS, now that is a very good looking gun. I like that a lot.

That would be nice in a 500 JHR as well.

The blond one with the scope was a customer's 458 Lott, that, IIRC, Shaun put a front barrel lug on, bedded the barrel, and some other fun stuff.

The darker gun is Jacks' .510 Van Horn, Weatherby 460 case shortened and necked up to .510, but, puts a 600 grain Barnes bullet out at 2150 fps. Ammo is the stuff we shot through the gun that day, but, only a couple rounds, to test it, and to bust a jug with the .510, not to mention my shoulder....
Here's a better picture of the rifles, or two:
