I decided to dust off my 50 cal Hawken that I built from a kit in 1983 and go hog hunting this morning. I had been in the woods for about an hour when this guy came in to some oak trees to feed. He will be the guest of honor at a New Years Eve celbrations tonight. | ||

Bill, I got him field dressed and the prostate gland removed moments after the photo was taken. He was skinned and buthchered into cokking sized pieces, and parboiled in a large pressure cooker. After the pressure cooker he was placed on a smoker and cooked slowly until the New Years Ever festivities started. He was superb!!! There wasn't much of him left. | |||

1115, Glad it was good. He's got some nice cutter's. We used to throw the boars away for the coyotes and keep the sals. I never could get past the stinch of the boars. Congrats Reloader | |||

Reloader I have shot very stinky boars, I mean VERY stinky. Once I got the skin off the meat was perfect. Even boars as big as 300 to 325 lbs [weighed] tasted great. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY | |||

If you will remove the prostate gland and the some surrounding tissue while the boar is still warm, the "stink" will go with it. The only exception to this is a boar that has been chased by dogs, fighting with another boar, or has been upset in some way. IMHO | |||
