Kamala is a miserable candidate for the office of President but her supporters (I don't think she has followers) ignore her unsuitability and try to make her seem like a logical choice.
The only way she will become president is if Biden steps down before his term is up. Then she won't have to rely on the voters. This might be the best solution. The lefties will get their "woman of color" as president, and she won't have time to eff things up too much worse than they are.

Biden very likely timed his exit from the race such that it would be assured that she would be the nominee.

As indicated more than once you can pick only from those who choose to run. The Pubs never put up a serious challenger to trump so you're stuck with him like it or not.

You know how Harris got there since nobody seriously challenges the incumbent who is Biden. A lot of folks don't want to put themselves through the microscopic attention from the press.
