Actually, I care.

Whichever way it goes, I hope there’s no violence, no people or property harmed by ‘dissenting’ voters, and that the final outcome is the most beneficial to the U.S. and the world.

Think hard, cousins, and try your best to get it right, whatever that ‘right’ might be.

Neither represents who I am. Joe Manchin may come on strong with my vote!!
I just hope it is not a one party rule, then I feel I can get by no matter which way it goes.

The best thing for the Country (which won't happen) would be a complete domination by Democrats.

I do not want one-party rule, and I have been watching Democrats long enough to know that they aren't capable of doing it.

Give them everything, across the board, and they will split into at least two and likely three factions, de facto parties, within a couple of weeks.

The progressives will coalesce around AOC, representing 20% or so and attracting the most "progressive" of the Independents.

The conservatives will coalesce around Marcy Kaptur or Jared Golden, also representing about 20% of Democrats and would attract the saner 30% of the defunct Republican Party.

The remaining 60% of Democrats would continue to make up the core of the Democratic Party and would keep the trains running while the Republicans cleansed themselves of their lunatics and eventually reformed, under a new label, likely joined by the Kaptur group.

If Republicans somehow gained complete control despite being a minority the closest historical analogy is the National Socialist Party from Germany, the Nazis, who would dispense with elections and eliminate, politically if not physically, all opposition.

Like the Nazis did.

We have one-party rule here, and it's wearisome. Rules mandate big majorities for spending bills, but spending gets bipartisan support.
There is also the top-two primary system, designed to keep third party candidates off the ballot and voters on their respective reservations.

I took Tom's comment to mean in CA they have one party rule at a state level, like we do here. It is NOT a good thing.

Yes, California. We are the laboratory for it, and how to make a minority party influence the course of eventa.

I did not realize, until someone pointed it out, that California has more Republicans than the whole population of many other states.

Not surprised - CA is huge and highly populated.
We visit LA on occasion to see family but have also been to Santa Barbara a few times and I was surprised how conservative that part of the State is in comparison to the south.
Speaking of which, has the push to split into more States run it's course or is there still support for it?

On this topic, I think Kamala will win the Presidency - by a tiny margin after days of counting and the usual spate of ballots found here and there - just enough to win.
Republicans have a good chance at winning enough seats in the Senate to offset the independents and holding the House.

The supporters of the idea are themselves too fragmented to make a go of it. One proposal is for seven states out of one, another is to join with southern Oregon to make a fifty-first state. World War II interrupted a somewhat organized effort in Siskyou County to become the State of Jefferson decades ago.

Yes, and somehow encouraging.

I think both sides are dissatisfied and a bit angry.

I don't see how it is possible that a Trump win can decrease the overall dissatisfaction and anger. His whole messaging has been to intensify it. His whole plan is to make it (whatever) happen despite dissatisfaction and anger.

That's certainly not Harris' message, but the reaction to it/her is - from Trumpsters.

I said, in 2016, and I say now, one thing is certain. If trump wins, then people who voted for him may gloat, but they will have to suffer the results the same as everyone else. His term was a disaster, I don't see another term as anything but worse.

If she loses PA, Alaska closes the door on 270.

Did anyone have GOP also wins popular vote on their election bingo cards? I didn't
