There was no science behind all the stupid things they brought for the Chink Virus.

Stopped believing it soon after it all started and now facts are coming out to convince me I was right.

I believe that you have misunderstood my position.

I am 100% pro science. I trust science. I trust scientists.

The problem that I am trying to point out is that those who stand to profit by controlling the narrative are withholding science from us. That is what the article that I posted was about.

He is not belittling science…he is belittling the politics.

“They” is the MSM and The Bureaucracy. Essentially the MSM is the mouthpiece of The Bureaucracy in present day USA. “The pen is mightier than the sword” and has replaced it as the tool for control.

He (or “they” in this instance) who controls the narrative…controls the people.

This is how science works when it comes to a populAtion’s medical issues, when time is of the essence.
At the time that medical decisions about the efficacy of masks were being made the hospitals were overwhelmed and Americans were dropping like flies, there were a number of competing ideas. For example, some, even on this forum, were advocating the use of a horse medicine as a treatment.

When the consequences are great in terms of human life, the most conservative approach is typically followed.

It would be wise of us to do the same with global warming.

What you’re missing Mr. Brown are several things, like the amount of time the scientists had to study the virus (after all it was new)and the human consequences if science followed a liberal policy was wrong and thinking that science when it comes to such matters operates in in a vacuum.

As is the outrage over being asked to wear a mask years after the fact.

Makes about as much sense as continual harping about the "stolen" 2020 election.

I try to look at the pandemic in a broad sense and compare our situation here in the States to that of other developed nations, we did not have it nearly as bad as many other countries. Were mistakes made? Of course they were. It was a very challenging public health situation involving a virus we had not dealt with. The Pandemic is now passed, I'm moving along in life, not rehashing things that annoyed me from several years ago.

You're correct, Dugga.

Rightists certainly made their worldview clear during the so-deemed pandemic.

And we are going to have to live with it for the foreseeable future.

And now the spinning after the fact is beginning to become clearer, on many fronts.

And it's scary effective.

Either that, or you figure out how to make the best of a bad situation and soldier on. That whole Lemonade out of Lemons thing.

You cannot turn the clock back and change things so in my mind the best thing to do is proceed in the best way possible.

I'm in a far better place than I was in 2019, I cannot speak for others. I see no need for the doom and gloom over the pandemic. Why? How is that helping in the least?

There was no good evidence that masking worked.

Dr Fauci at first admitted such, but then revised his position, I suspect due to the chicken little “We gotta do SOMETHING!!!” crowd.

There is a role for masking in bacterial infection as a part of surgery/procedures.

The role of respirators and higher grade protection for viral infection is there.

The unintended consequences of the pandemic response show that “just do SOMETHING!” Can and usually does have adverse consequences.

The progressives strongly believe in just doing something about pretty much everything.

The conservatives tend to resist any changes.

Where I work, we just finally pulled the mandatory masking for employees. Strangely enough, the medical physicians had been unanimously telling admin it was useless for more than a year and a half.

Some of us had been pointing to the studies done and the scientific evidence from the beginning… and saying either use N95 respirators or do nothing re masking.

Of course, we were ignored.

No, I don't have a PhD but I do have enough education in the right area that I knew the difference between the politics, the cash cow at hand and the real science. Much of what was called science was in fact, not. I think that caused a lot of lost lives and for sure damaged economies and school age children.

If that's true, then take the "science" and send the exact same to the Heritage Foundation, Heartland Org, The members of the GOP science committee, and NASA, and CDC, then see what is promulgated by each.

I think it's not what they are told to say. It's what they are compelled to say, for very different reasons.

Do you think NASA or CDC, for example, are compelled to spin the science because of bias?

I cant speak for the US. But yeah In NZ it did not matter what the relevant authority told the govt. All information was presented by the govt and it is coming out that they discarded information that did not suit their policy and even despite being told so, broke the law to enforce their policy.

I think it's a direct "send" to NASA, for example. Are they PR persons?

So, why bother to listen to doubt purveyors?

Could bias affirmation be the answer?
