I think it is particularly appropriate that Trump's inaugeration was on Martin Luther King Day. A couple of MLK quotes that seem particularly applicable: The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of convenience and comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. MLK We must walk on in the days ahead with the audacious faith in the future. MLK Trump has stood firm in times of challenge and he is nothing if he doesn't have an audacious faith in the future of this country.

Spot on. Trump is a world class con artist and grifter, MLK spent a lifetime and lost his life fighting for equal rights. The two are not remotely similar. Lavaca, you should be ashamed, but being a Trumptard, we all know you have no shame.

And both Martin Luther King and Donald Trump did all they could to unify the country. It is the Democratic Party, starting with Obama, that started trying to divide it. And the remnants of the Democratic Party stick to that strategy. But Trump will unify the Nation in spite of people who cannot be reasoned with. So my question is, can you be reasoned with? Or are you like the followers of the Mahdi?

Mike, I didn't and I stand by what I said. I think both MLK and Trump would stand by what I said. They stand for the same thing. MLK wanted equality. He never asked for DEI, which I think is a disservice to minorities and I think he would have agreed. He only asked for an even shot and everyone should have that. When you do a DEI hire or affirmative action, you put a stigma on that person that is unfair to them. MLK never asked for a preference -- he was wise about that. Trump just wants to accomplish what MLK asked for and what people deserve. No difference. We need to come together. MLK wanted that. Trump wants that. Obama and Biden didn't want that. For purely political reasons. smme ae mispeak and e

. . . pour yourself another glass of KoolAid or whatever adult beverage you must be drinking this evening . . . then call other people zealots after you make a ridiculous statement. I will give you that DJT and MLK did share things in common. They were both male and they both like(d) having extramarital affairs. After that the comparisons get pretty specious. Mike

Mike, You are wrong, but I'll never convince you of that. Trump hatred is a real thing and you can't reason with those people.

There is no disputing that Trump hatred is real and strongly felt. That said, there is an equally powerful, perhaps even more virulent, foible that exists and that is Trump delusion syndrome. You see it all the time. Folks afflicted ignore the man’s ridiculous and reprehensible behavior. They rationalize and explain away, or worse, ignore the same. A great example is the pardoning of virtually all of the January 6 rioters, including those that assaulted cops. Instead of condemning the act, those afflicted with Trump delusion syndrome, deflect, pointing to Biden’s pardons, or dismiss, saying the people have suffered enough. You want to call out folks that are critical of Trump as zealots, you might want to take a look in the mirror and try recognizing that there is an equally prevalent, I would argue even more prevalent, group of zealots that exhibit something akin to cult-like behavior when it comes to Trump. And when I hear someone attempting to compare DJT and MLK, I cannot help but feel that the person is exhibiting that exact same cult-like behavior. Mike

MLK Jr, before he was assassinated publicly advocated for radical redistribution of political and economic power. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Hgwtd4X_qFM My favorite quote that speaks to the Tech and Investment Billionaire Class; “What they truly advocate for is socialism for the rich, and capitalism for the poor.” “The problems of racial injustice and economic injustice cannot be solved without a radical redistribution of political and economic power.” (“The Three Evils of Society,” So, no.

"One Ring to Rule them All, and in the Darkness Bind Them..." I expect that some good will come from the Trump presidency. I do not expect it be unalloyed wonderful. I do expect an economic instability in 2027, and I idly wonder what Trump will do about it. TomP Our country, right or wrong. When right, to be kept right, when wrong to be put right. I wish I knew how to do a poll. I’d ask where the following rated against each other as racist . Obama Michelle Trump MLK, Jr. Biden K. Harris (remember her) Schumer George W. Bush Bill Clinton Hillary Clinton I think that’s ten. But public figure icons and influencer like LeBron James Whoopee Don Lemon Tim Tebow Could be substituted It would be interesting but probably a bit too soul-searching to honestly respond and not just go with the propaganda of your political persuasion. I’ll start Martin Kings wish that his children be judged on their character instead of color was the opposite of racism. Michelle Obama’s senior thesis was the epitome of racism. Well, first off, while politicians can certainly be racists, they generally tend to express what they feel the voters want to hear. I think Trump and Obama are very similar, if approaching it from different groups. Both have a lot of positive interactions with folks of differing races, but also said numerous things that can be interpreted as racist in their pandering to their political base. Michelle Obama? She tends to stay out of political debates, and while I don't think of her as particularly racist, shes probably among the most in your list of political types, but one of the least in the non politicians you list. Fundamentally, she doesn't have the coverage that would show a lot of what she actually thinks. MLK Jr. all I can work with is his legacy as I was not around when he was alive and just have the sanitized version that is in the popular press. From that, he was probably the least racist of your listed folks. Biden was very racist, but more by his low expectations than his dislike of anyone. Harris? I would say very racist in that she used it as the main block in her political career, and is using it as the blame for her failed presidential bid. Schumer- quite racist. George W Bush- pretty much like Trump and Obama. I do think he has more racist tendencies than the other two.- especially towards the Middle East. Bill Clinton - probably the most racist president you list but bent over backwards to pander to his base. Hillary Clinton- not very racist, but full bore sexist. LeBron James, Whoopie Goldberg, and Don Lemon are all highly racist. Tebow I just am not familiar with other than he's an athlete who uses God as his raison d'etre.
