There was a time in the dark and not-too-distant past when Down Syndrome children were made wards of the state and institutionalized at birth. We have made progress, although this is a difficult concept to grasp when immersed in the PF! There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

Having gone through primary school with DS kids I never experienced your dark times. These people were always (and are) a part of the community. ~Ann

Ann, I don't remember any DS kids in my public school years, approximately 1958-1971. But I am talking about the darker times before WWII and earlier when these children were referred to with the incredibly brutal descriptor "mongoloid idiot," and usually institutionalized or at least kept at home and not seen in public. We really HAVE made progress. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

I only mention/made my comment because your comment really wasn't productive or positive to such persons. I get tired of negativity. ~Ann
