There was a time in the dark and not-too-distant past when Down Syndrome children were made wards of the state and institutionalized at birth. We have made progress, although this is a difficult concept to grasp when immersed in the PF! Cool

Having gone through primary school with DS kids I never experienced your dark times. These people were always (and are) a part of the community.

Ann, I don't remember any DS kids in my public school years, approximately 1958-1971. But I am talking about the darker times before WWII and earlier when these children were referred to with the incredibly brutal descriptor "mongoloid idiot," and usually institutionalized or at least kept at home and not seen in public.
We really HAVE made progress.

I only mention/made my comment because your comment really wasn't productive or positive to such persons. I get tired of negativity.

Ann, I apologize if that is the way you took it. The opposite was my intent.
Please have a merry Christmas.
