I believe that one can get drugs cheaper from Canada if one looks around. Google would be your friend for that. The main reason drugs are cheaper elsewhere is because other countries dictate the prices that the drugs can be sold for. If I recall correctly, there are things in place allowing us to take over the canal if military issues force it. My biggest concern was that supposedly the Panamanians were going to have a Chinese company take over management of the canal. I’m also concerned that required maintenance is not being done. From a military point of view, the canal is less relevant now that before. Too many of our warships are too big, and with nuclear propulsion, the fueling issues are somewhat smaller. That and it’s known and small. It’s a strategic choke point in this day of nuclear submarines. Trump is bloviating. Taking it back appeals to our nationalism, and it does impact economically for commercial ships, but it’s not really much of a military issue, at least to my understanding. Threatening to renationalize it is more a bargaining chip with Central America and particularly Panama than any real need for it. It is probably relating to the illegal immigration issue more than anything if Trump is actually being sensible. | |||
