So you REALLY believe Trump will stand up for Ukraine? After his first impeachment? Not a chance, it will be payback time for Zelenskyy.

My sense is that one of the main reasons we find ourselves in the political morass we have today is that the electorate is gullible and loves buying into the fear . . . reason and logic notwithstanding.

I see a difference in the fear attributes you describe from both sides.

"WWIII, radical liberals, immigrants poisoning the country, confiscation of firearms, etc."
vs
"Trump retribution, mass deportations, fascism, etc."

The difference I see is how those factors are determined, rationally or logically, or not.

The first set isn't really rational. Lots of emotion hype goes into the adjectives there and conclusions.

The second set is basically Trump's own words and acts, with practically no embellishment in deciphering.

Here's a good video, which IMO everyone should watch and listen:

‘He betrayed the nation’: Judge Luttig slams Trump, hopes Americans ‘come to their senses’

Polls indicate that Donald Trump and Kamala Harris remain in a deadlocked race for the presidency, but for some people the choice is crystal clear. “I hope Americans come to their senses,” former federal judge J. Michael Luttig tells Ali Velshi. He excoriates Trump for his disqualifying conduct before, during, and after his presidency. “The question is whether Donald Trump is fit, and he is not,” says Luttig. “When he was entrusted with the presidency before, he betrayed the nation.”

Sorry, you see a difference because you want there to be a difference. Both sides are fear mongering. That's another one of our problems today, folks on the left and right feel compelled to defend their side when it is patently obvious that both sides use the same tactics and share many of the same flaws. Fiscal responsibility is a great example. Both sides want to say they are more fiscally responsible than the other when the truth is that both sides engage in and perpetuate profligate spending without serious regard to the long term consequences. As other folks have said here for some time, more people voting for Harris are voting against Trump and more people voting for Trump are voting against Harris. Both sides could use a little more serious introspection.

Voted this morning, two observations.

One, shocked I was literally the only voter there, in and out in 10 minutes.

Two, the burden of ID proof seemed awfully low. A utility bill? A paycheck? Gee whiz, I would have thought at least a government issued photo ID.

No I don’t.

Isn’t that a reason (if Russia believes there is even a modest chance) of Trump winning to not continue to prosecute the war fully and continue to spend money and lose soldiers?

The point being you on the left are using escalation of military aggression as a reason to say trump is bad. Your point is not internally consistent.

While I agree that Trump will likely sell Ukraine short, if Russia thinks it’s likely AND they think Trump will let them do what they want, it makes no sense for them to start major offensives now. In Russia this is a bad time to fight- the weather is wet and difficult. You wait for winter traditionally as far as Russian attacks.

I think it makes plenty of sense for Russia to be as aggressive as possible now, any peace agreement forced upon Ukraine will include ceding the ground Russia occupies at that time. Why would you not get all you can before Trump pushes Ukraine into a deal with the Devil? Makes total sense if you are Putin.

Mirrors my experience yesterday. In and out in 8-9 minutes. Skipped the line for presidential voting. Otherwise voted Republican. We had to submit a government issued ID and it was scanned through a computer. We voted via a computer, which then printed out your ballot. You physically looked at the printed ballot, then placed it in the ballot box. No problem, very little time spent.

Agree. A government issued photo ID should be necessary to vote.

Colorado allows you to vote if you can show a bill that comes from a governmental entity. Not sure how you prove that you were the person that the bill was directed to...makes no sense.

That said....how many people do you think are stealing power bills so they can run down to the local polling place and vote and risk being convicted of a felony? It's the same fallacy that the republicans push in relation to undocumented persons voting. It might happen on an anecdotal basis...but never in numbers that would come close to having an impact.

Just as a couple buildings overrun by Venezuelan gangs or a few little girls getting gang raped don't really come close to having an impact - purely anecdotal.

Colorado is ranked #5 in ranking of the populace education yet we still allow such lax voting requirements. So smart yet so stupid.

As I speak, we have a County Clerk, Tina Peters, sentenced to 9 years in jail in part for divulging passwords to access voting machines while it was just revealed that our own Secretary of State has done the same thing on the SoS website. Online no less!

Of course, it's all being downplayed as no big deal - super secure, you know...

Why not just tattoo a social security number on each Tejano's butt as they leave the womb?

I kind of imagine in Texas, a social security number starts with a calibre.

Texans might be more tolerable if they didn't brag so much. How great their state is. How great they are. How great their dog is. And so on.

I suppose they're just compensating for an inferiority complex.

Poor thing.. Texas and my dog are great. I guess you want us to be more humble, like yourself, pontificating upon 24 million people that you don't even know.
