I guess if you don’t like living in a representative republic…you don’t have too. I suppose Senator Tuberville is acting on his constituents wishes and his beliefs. If they don’t like it…they can vote him out. If Senate leadership has the power and will to whip him in line…let them act.

I'll repeat what I already posted:

Compromising the readiness of our national defense and fucking over military folks who have dedicated their lives and careers to defending our country. All so tuberville can get re-elected by the anti-choice republican knuckle-draggers who populate Alabama.

You can try to excuse this any way you like but it's flat wrong and even most republicans recognize it.

>>>>Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) on Tuesday voiced his misgivings about Tuberville’s aggressive tactics.

“I think holding these non-policy-making career military [officials] who can’t be involved in politics at all is a mistake and we continue to work on that and I hope at some point we can get it clear,” he told reporters.

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), the vice chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee and ranking member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, urged Tuberville on Tuesday to limit his holds to policy-making positions.

“I’m very concerned about it and hope that Sen. Tuberville will reconsider and narrow his focus to only those individuals who have policy responsibilities,” Collins said.

The Senate Armed Service Committee has approved 273 promotions that are now stuck on the floor because of Tuberville’ hold, according to a Senate aide.

You either like our form of government or you don’t. If he wrong for his constituents…his constituents will send him packing. If they approve…he will carry on. Hey, I thought you Democrats were tolerant of opposing views!?

It has zero to do with liking or disliking our form of government. You may think it's OK to undermine US military readiness with a political stunt just because the people in Alabama were stupid enough to elect this moron. Some of us beg to differ.

Making my point again^^^

You have disdain for the citizens of Alabama as well as Tommy. You would tyrannically over-rule them if you could. Precisely why I hope he sticks to his principles.

The military will respond fine if called upon.

You are an over-educated dumbass.

Tuberville's stunt will cost the lives of some of our troops if China decides to get adventurous or Putin panics.

And fuck you too Jefffive. Big Grin

I started out with a worn out truck and all of my belongings fitting into it. Suffice it to say I have increased from that significantly relying solely on my intelligence, education, and logic.

I’ll keep riding with my instincts and intellect and laughing at your thought (using the term loosely) processes…thank you kindly. tu2

That does not change the fact Sen from Alabama’s actions are irresponsible, and folks can identify that. It also does not mean legitimate debate on what he is doing should be foreclosed. It also does not mean legitimate corrective measures cannot be taken such as a one to one vote to break him, or denying him PAC, Senate Re-election support if he does not end this tomorrow.

The bottom line is, you want his policy of one to be a reality. You nor Sen. Tuberville get to decide that the Fed Government cannot provide travel to service members in need of abortion.

The size of the military had nothing to do with it, and those placing that on the table are intentionally providing a red herring.

. . . just rest assured that this is not a two-way street with Lane. If this were Elizabeth Warren holding up judicial appointments or military commissions, he would be the cheerleader leading the MAGAggot parade with his pom-poms calling for her to be sanctioned, removed, etc. complaining about the damage she was doing to our judicial system or military. You have to understand, there are only one-lane roads on Lane's map; no such thing as a two-lane road.

Some may agree…others not so much.

Agreed. I don’t see anyone stopping the debate.

Have at it. All part of the process and within the rules.

We’ll see. Let it play out. By all means use your political prowess to quash him.

Not anymore than making this big hoopla that the military is crippled.

Idiotic. And, yes I do have disdain for Tuberville and his supporters and anybody else that thinks that undermining our military readiness in order to advance an anti-choice political agenda is a good idea. It doesn't surprise me that you subscribe to and agree with it.

And, should we take your word or the military's word for the potential effect this bullshit has on our force readiness? I know you are the expert on all things but I didn't realize you know more about military readiness than the Joint Chiefs of Staff. barf

When the military gets out of the abortion facilitation business (ie: abortion at taxpayer expense) and gets back into the business of building lethal capable soldiers…

…you will know that the military is ready to take on the new axis of the 21st century and not until.

The monkey is their back.

No, but the voters can tell the army through their representatives what it can and cannot spend money on.

Tuberville’s angst is about the Army utilizing funds from congress to get around a state law that some folks don’t like.

Why are the soldiers utilizing abortion services and having to go out of state for abortion care?

Last I heard, most bases provide medical care. The military can provide abortions through the medical corps. They don’t. Per brother google again, the DOD provides abortions only if the life of the mother would be at risk if the baby was carried to term.

So, someone in DOD decided that while the military does not provide EAB’s, they will provide paid time and transport to a civilian center for service members to get one.

In other words, congress banned them electively for military facilities and the executive decided to end run that by allowing PTO and funds for travel to complete your desired elective procedure.

Whether you support abortion or not, you certainly should be able to see that this is a fight between congress and the executive as to who decides what.

There's no bottom to your ignorance. Military hospitals are barred, BY LAW, from doing abortions except in defined exceptions.

Who wrote the law?

Why did the government place such a restriction?

It’s been a bone of contention (federal support for abortion services) for decades.

The law banning federal facilities from providing them was written when?

Unlike you, I actually have performed a D&C.

What did I say that was ignorant?

The government placed these restrictions. There is no reason why a qualified OB/GYN or other military doc can’t (as in is physically unable to) perform the procedure. Most are done in outpatient clinics without a full OR or anesthesia. If the government passed a law saying we are not getting involved in abortion, then providing PTO and travel expenses is what? Note this is not an argument that they are right, just that if congress passed a law prohibiting funding abortions, then the DOD is doing an end run by giving payment for getting them provided.

Mr. Potato Head, Tommy Tuberville, demonstrating his profound ignorance. https://www.msnbc.com/deadline...nt-date-192812613907 I would like to say the MAGA Republicans don't get any dumber than this, but they do, every day.
