Three part series on Netflix about how bin Laden was hunted down and killed. It is excellent. Highly recommend.

I'm sure our benevolent host will take issue but it is a pure example of how Americans never quit. There were a lot of people in the US intelligence community who did nothing for ten years but try to find that motherfucker and bring him to justice. The Netflix series tells the story with interviews of the low-level and high-level American intelligence folks, along with SEAL Team 6, who found that piece of shit and killed him.

IIRC if there was one shortcoming it was failure to give orders to take out on sight instead of waiting for approval. If that anecdote is true.

The guy that shot him is interviewed on the show. Nothing about waiting for orders. Double-tapped him as soon as he saw him. They were there to kill him, not take him prisoner. Who needs a OBL as a prisoner? Dumped in the Arabian sea after Islamic rights were observed. Fuck that guy.

That was a story while he was still in Afhanistant. Apparently he was spotted, but the person who spotted him was not authorized to take him out. At least that's how I recall it.

Agree, excellent mini-series.

As far as OBL getting away, it seems they had him surrounded in Tora-Bora but the disassociation between the US armed forces and the CIA was seemingly what stopped it. There were only 4 Special Operators there. They called for more troops and were denied.

It must have stemmed from the order GWB gave the CIA chief to run the op rather than Rumsfeld.

Ego's got in the way and OBL lived longer than was necessary.

After watching this, the movie Zero-Dark Thirty was pretty accurate.

I thought the same about the accuracy of Zero-Dark Thirty. Tracks the facts seemingly.

I'm gonna re-watch ZDT tonight!!.

The woman that was interviewed several times in the documentary and blacked out, must have been the character played by Jessica Chastain.

The buck stops at the Oval Office for OBL's escape at Tora-Bora. George W. Bush took his eyes off the ball in Afghanistan in order to go invade Iraq. His generals and intelligence officers followed where the CIC led.

Sorry about the nasty post the other day. I try to be nice, but sometimes my anger at those who voted the current regime into office overwhelms my intentions. I'll try to do better.

Ahh, Hey, Jim, WHO exactly voted in this regime?

2020 -
81.3M dem votes for biden
74.2M gop votes for trump

2024 -
75.0m dem votes for quemala
77.3M gop votes for trump --

6.3M MISSING dem votes. Dems didn't need to gain a SINGLE vote, basis 2020, to have crushed trump

Where did these 6.3M voters go? Heck, even if HALF of them had voted for quemala, the Dems would have won --

tell me again who did what, by not showing up?

This was the battle of the 2 worst major party candidates in my lifetime - and apparently, the majority (don't quibble, fine, higher plurality) of americans thought quemala was the worse candidate -

and then in the senate, the house, and all the swing states, just "Decided" which way to vote?

Keep drilling the holes in the boat, jimmy - how many illegals are staying with you?
