False statement on a loan application.

I wonder how many of those trump has made over the years? I bet a lot of those applications are getting scrutinized pretty closely right now.

Big Tish is experiencing Karma right now. She dredged up an alleged violation on Trump where all parties were happy with the deal done by Trump. Now she can get a little taste of that.

Except the Fed Courts upheld the fraud findings against Trump.

I trust the courts, our system, codified due process to handle this.

The $500+ million civil fraud penalty imposed on Donald Trump in February 2024 (originally ~$355 million plus interest, exceeding $500 million by mid-2025) was fully overturned by a New York state appeals court on August 21, 2025. The court ruled the fine violated the Eighth Amendment's prohibition on excessive fines, while upholding other aspects like business bans. The decision, from a panel in the Appellate Division, eliminated the monetary penalty entirely, sparing Trump and his organization from payment.

Which virtually means the case had no merit. Wink

Maybe Big Tish will have the same luck! rotflmo

You're dreaming if you think trump isn't gonna get a little taste of it himself soon. All those real estate deals where trump was pledging over-priced properties as collateral on federal loans. Speaking of Karma. It's the dumbest thing ever for trump. Gonna bite him on the ass.

The idea that you and your idiots are going to control things indefinitely is going to come back on you. You've upped the ante and it's gonna sting in a couple of years. Morons.

I look at it as this woman prosecuted someone for something she herself has done- lied on business forms.

If she is found guilty and sentenced to some significant penalty, then all of us are on notice about lying on these types of forms.

She got Trump sentenced to a big penalty. It is karma that she has to face the same music.

If she gets off, then it looks to me like the courts are saying it’s ok to lie on these forms because both her and Trump will have gotten away with it.

That's a stunning admission to make. So you admit the prosecutions of Trump's enemies is motivated by revenge--and you approve!

You have nothing to say about the merits of the prosecutions, eh? You are a piece of work.

They want to indict Bolton too.

I'm sure there are several on Trump's list of those who offended him.

You are very slow Roland. Good thing you retired.

What I said was that Letitia James campaigned on prosecuting the political enemy of the Democratic establishment.

She basically manufactured a case out of thin air against Trump. A case with no injured party. A case that had the sole function of persecuting a political enemy. A case with NO merit.

Mike brought up the karma theme. I am just saying that if anyone is experiencing karma it is James.

==================================================================

I see that as continued massive hypocrisy of the Right in general and Trump supporters specifically.

"Taxpayer money for private legal expenses unrelated to their official duties"???

This is not a private legal matter nor private legal expenses. This is a targeted attack on an elected official. I think an attorney general, current and former, should have some protection through his/her employer for weaponized legal actions.

Trump's intent is to destroy the woman's reputation and financially, as with all his lies and retribution weaponization endeavors, which BTW are ALL funded by taxpayer money. The enormity of Trump's federal slush fund for his retributions is beyond count. He has weaponized the entire fed govt in various ways, (means), for outcomes (ends) which are clear, spoken out loud, even written. (Project 2025)

This isn't about justice per the rule of law. It's about justice per the rule of man.

Plus he's got immunity for so-deemed "official acts" gifted by SCOTUS. Plus he's got denial ability because he's not going to produce documentation of his direct involvement.

It's corruption to the core, multi-level.

Kathy Hochul slipped in a $10 million dollar slush fund of new yorkers’ hard earned taxpayer dollars to specifically pay for tish’s legal fees.

Reports indicate that New York's 2025 budget includes a $10 million fund for the legal defense of state officials under investigation. This provision, slipped into the budget at the last minute by the Senate Majority, has drawn criticism, with some suggesting it is intended to cover Attorney General Letitia James' legal fees related to a federal investigation into alleged mortgage fraud.

Key Context
Senator Walczyk and other critics argue that this provision is an abuse of power, potentially violates the State constitution, and could allow elected officials to use taxpayer money for private legal expenses unrelated to their official duties.

Attorney General James was recently indicted in the Eastern District of Virginia on charges related to bank fraud and making false statements to a financial institution, which her office states are baseless and politically motivated.

Governor Kathy Hochul has defended James, calling the indictment a "weaponization of the Justice Department".

Texas AG Ken Paxton announces ‘undercover’ investigations into liberals
Story by Ja'han Jones • 4h • 2 min read

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who’s a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, says his office is planning to launch undercover operations targeting liberals.

The scandal-plagued Paxton has incentive to carve a lane for himself as the Trumpiest candidate in the primary.

Last year, he reached a deal to avoid a securities fraud trial and avoided removal from office after being impeached over corruption allegations.

That’s helpful context for his conspiracy theory-filled announcement of undercover investigations into liberals, which he said will complement President Donald Trump’s efforts to use federal agencies and the military against antifa.

That Paxton announced these supposedly undercover investigations, which he claims are “in response to the political assassination of national hero Charlie Kirk and the disturbing rise of leftist violence across the country,” is a clear indicator he sees the probes as tools to intimidate. The statement includes fact-free claims like the following:

Leftist political terrorism is a clear and present danger. Corrupted ideologies like transgenderism and Antifa are a cancer on our culture and have unleashed their deranged and drugged-up foot soldiers on the American people.

None of that is supported by evidence. The Trump administration was caught hiding the federal government’s own assessments showing far-right extremists have been responsible for the bulk of domestic terrorism — far outpacing leftist violence — over the past three decades. “Transgenderism” isn’t an “ideology,” and there’s certainly no evidence to support the tired right-wing claim that trans people are disproportionately violent. Nor is there evidence that “drugged-up foot soldiers” for antifa — which the FBI has previously stated is not an official organization — are wreaking havoc on Americans.

“The martyrdom of Charlie Kirk marks a turning point in America. There can be no compromise with those who want us dead,” Paxton said in his statement, adding that he has directed his office to “identify, investigate, and infiltrate these leftist terror cells.”

Again, there’s no evidence the man accused of killing Kirk sought to target anyone else. And there’s also no evidence to support Paxton’s allegations about the existence of leftist “terror cells” that pose threats to Americans.

“To those demented souls who seek to kill, steal, and destroy our country, know this: you cannot hide, you cannot escape, and justice is coming,” the attorney general declared. It’s quite ironic that this is coming from an attorney general who has worked with the True Texas Project, an activist group that has been associated with neo-Nazi propaganda and has platformed blatant white supremacists.

Paxton’s threats add to the growing heap of evidence showing officials in the insurrectionist-aligned MAGA movement are using the killing of Kirk — which literally unfolded while a gunman allegedly infatuated with right-wing killers shot up a school in the next state over — to portray liberals as the true violent threats and crack down on their civil rights.

And in part, that's the point. Prosecution as a federal crime is a farce.

I didn't say that about Trump's alleged crimes. I didn't make that distinction. The courts and prosecution did.

Trump did incur some civil suits.

The fed cases, as I recall felonies, were related to the insurrection, and stealing classified docs, and falsifying business records to cover up something significant for public opinion for election reasons.

My comment about the loans isn't comparable.

You are stretching, again, with your compulsive false equivalences, plus look over there, what about BS.

What you are describing is a 1983 Action. An action against state actors for malicious prosecution that violates your rights.

However, unless they can show this AG intentionally misled the GDJ, it is going to be hard to get at. The alternative would be showing the AG knew the case was not prosecutable but sought indictment anyway.

It is called a 1983 Action because Congress passed a law on 1983 creating the cause of action.

Yes, the case brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James against Donald Trump and the Trump Organization was a civil fraud lawsuit, not a criminal case.

Key details of the case:

Case details: James's 2022 civil lawsuit accused Trump and his company of fraudulently inflating the value of his assets on financial statements to obtain more favorable loan and insurance terms.

Civil vs. criminal: The civil nature of the case meant the burden of proof was lower ("preponderance of the evidence") than in a criminal case ("beyond a reasonable doubt").

Initial outcome: After a months-long trial, a judge found Trump liable for fraud. The court initially ordered Trump to pay a penalty of hundreds of millions of dollars, including interest.

Appeal: In August 2025, a New York appellate court threw out the financial penalty, calling it "excessive," but upheld the trial court's finding that Trump had committed fraud.

Ongoing status: Both James's office and Trump's lawyers are appealing the August 2025 appellate court decision to New York's highest court.

After the new indictment, it's almost astonishing that James is on record saying something that so eloquently justifies the charges against her. But there it is -- the book is being thrown at Letitia James, with the rationale provided by...Letitia James.
