As a former enlisted Marine, I think I can speak with some authority on how the grunts feel about a few things.

Something they absolutely hate is when they get forced to have lunch with some VIP that wants to show how tough they are.

“Yes, I like food, too.” -JD Vance, probably

Something else they hate is parades. A waste of a perfectly good Saturday, in uniform, marching in formation.

So, logically, that’s what Trump wants to make them do. He wants a big military parade in Washington, DC for his birthday. He wants it paid for by taxpayers. And he wants everyone to see how big and tough he is, because he is the most insecure person to ever occupy the White House.

This is an absolute joke, but it goes beyond that. When you join the military you swear an oath to the Constitution. The president is the Commander in Chief, but your job is to defend the country and our democracy. We don’t do these kinds of parades for the president in the United States.

They do it elsewhere, though. You know who else loved big military parades to fluff their ego? Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin, just to name a few. North Korea and China are big on them as well.

Trump’s surrounded by yes men these days, and if he wants this parade he’s going to do whatever he can to get it. But we don’t have to sit here and take that. You can be sure that I am going to do whatever I can to gum up the works on this.

Trump’s doing enough to make himself a king, and he shouldn’t get a parade for it.

Let’s keep it up, William. I ain’t done yet.

What does anyone expect from a fat orange jesus?? I bet there will be a big contingent of TX Trumpiteers in Washington for the momentous event, considering he is nominated for sainthood there. Of course, there seems to be only crickets lately from the fan boys. I wish the bream were bedding now as there is plenty of fish bait here… rotflmo tu2

They always asked if anyone wanted to meet with a VIP when I was in.
There were always some that did.

Back in the 80's... there was a neo-nazi demonstration in Oslo, Norway. The whole bloody city went out, standing with their backs against the parading fickwits.

The demonstration disintegrated. It fell into pieces. The sight of tens of thousands of people turning their backs was too much for them to handle. Not one fist, not one flipped finger, not one shout. Just stone cold dismissal.

There would be parades for a General, or dignitaries etc. One time at Lewis the grass wasnt green in one spot so they painted it, before the event!!
I was out of the country , or often tdy at sherman. No one goes to panama to put on a show! So I never saw one myself.
MOS 42, ( if I remember right) is the band, parade and choir specialty. I have talked to a few, they think they have the best job in the army. They go all over the country and world, performing for events.
They seem to love what they do and are happy they chose too.

Was there a large state parade for the setting President’s birthday?

For a lot less prestigious folks than the CIC, yes.
I dont see the reason we even have them,( 42) but it is part of a long history of the military. They train, just like everyone else, and want to showcase how well they preform their duties, just like anyone else.
I would use the money elsewhere, but not my call. But, until you can change port arms formation, because you dont like it, I dont think you will get rid of MOS 42. But, you can try all you want.

The answer is no. The military did not put on a state, sponsored parade for the setting President’s birthday.

You do not get to pick the question.

You posed a hypothetical question. It has not happened yet. from what has been reported, they have not been asked either.
There have been parades for past presidents, I dont care the reasons. I am not a music, parade person.
If they do, june 14 is not just trumps birthday. It is flag day. It is also, 6/14/25, the 250 th year anniversary of the creation of the US army.
I wont drive to the town green to watch/listen to fiddle/banjo players, so wouldnt watch a parade on tv either. But, I would call it the anniversary parade, not a trump parade.
But, you go get your frilly little panties in a twist, I dont care.
The parade and band members would consider it a really big deal, and an honor, from the brass on down. I doubt they would care what you think of their hard work.
You are manufacturing outrage until it happens.
