This is from a very liberal writers' forum I frequent. I'm not cherry-picking. This is the entire discussion about Kirk, and I am the one who brought it up. I was concerned there might be some anti-gun rhetoric, but there wasn't.

ME: 9/11/25, 2:23 AM

I don't know what to make of Charlie Kirk's shooting and death. I'm a fan of the Second Amendment, but am not very comfortable with what Kirk said in a speech several months back: "It's worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment."

Wow! Talk about irony. Statistics look different when you yourself become one of them.

Mr. A: “I think empathy is a made-up, New Age term.” - Charlie Kirk

Mr./Ms. B (a trans person) 9/11/25, 7:33 AM
I think it was worth it to have the cost of, unfortunately, this one gun death this year so that we can have less inhumane and socially violent thought leaders.

Mr. C -- PF S23 — 9/11/25, 8:13 AM
It’s frustrating to no end that the media is framing him as an innocent victim of our “increasingly polarized society” without mentioning that he made his entire fortune on worsening that polarization
I’d like to think this will spur conservatives into some self-reflection and introspection, but they’ll probably just find a way to blame the Clintons

Mr. A — 9/11/25, 8:15 AM
His literal last words were blaming shootings on trans people and gang members.
At least that’s what I’ve heard from several sources.

Mr. C -- PF S23 — 9/11/25, 8:35 AM
They were, I watched the video

Me S-21 — 12:42 AM
Turns out it wasn't a gay or trans person who killed him, but a disturbed young man who was politically unaffiliated and whose parents are Republicans.
As for the hope that conservatives are going to reflect and introspect, don't hold your breath. I hang out on a hunting forum, and some Trumpeteers are declaiming the killing as an "act of war." I wish people with guns wouldn't talk about civil war. It's bad for our image.

Ms. D S23 — 4:58 AM
Talk of war serves exactly the purpose they're going for: to squash all speech they dislike. It's a not at all subtle reminder that they're the ones with the most guns. One could argue that a large part of why we're in our current mess is that armed and angry online mobs have been intimidating Republicans for years.

Mr. C -- PF S23 — 7:25 AM
They declare a civil war every other month. I don’t think we have to change the protocol too much for this one.

Gun rhetorics almost always come from Dem sides
That’s given and there is no argument
Yes at times Republicans say that on occasion but…

Lets have some perspective on his comments.

The second amendment comment. Nearly everyone out there values the car and thinks the speed limit is placed at an acceptable cost in human life. Yet knows a speeding driver could kill them, whilst not believing it could happen to them.

Empathy- Always we see the first part of his quote, never the second, where he said compassion or sympathy? was a better term, as its difficult to really know what another person is actually going through.

And he was innocent. His speech might not have been agreeable to some, It was definitely codified in a belief system many dont hold. But it was still the views of millions of Americans. legal, ordinary views and until the US can work out how to accept differing views, innocent people will be murdered.

Of course you can offer up proof that he was arrested and convicted of proffering such unprotected speech.

No, of course you can not.

Just another one of your spasmodic wet dreams.

I just wish to add..

Charlie Kirk had security, he admitted to carrying a gun for protection, and he was wearing a vest.
He absolutely knew he was a target and there was a very real risk of him being killed, yet he still believed in the 2nd and he still went out and spoke.

I must have missed the link to the source where he was charged with proffering such unprotected speech.

Perhaps you would be so kind as to re-post that for us.

Please, be specific.

The question is, why are you trying to stifle Shankspony's speech Phil?

I might add, the crime statistics for Whitehorse reflect the fact that the United States does not have a monopoly on violence.

free speech as your signature is indicating means you cannot please everyone and in your country violence is the motto for everything so do not be surprised is some are killing for what they say ... again do not put that too much on the hand of the left hand side as it seems the killer was more on the far right wing lol

Rather than going to a self described Liberal forum and get nothing but lies and out of context gibberish as you have here, why not go directly to the well?

Because its relevant too the claims you made, as he made the same claim, then found out it was a miss quote and he apologised.
I have the feeling you are not checking your information sources very well and just running with what suits your bias.

it is not because you do not understand what was said that it did not happened ...

Leviticus 20:13 is a biblical verse that discusses sexual relations between men and prescribes the death penalty for it, calling the act an "abomination". The text varies slightly across different translations. The New International Version (NIV) describes the act as "detestable," while the English Standard Version (ESV) and King James Version (KJV) use the term "abomination," and all three versions mention the death penalty.

This verse is part of the Holiness Code in Leviticus, which lists offenses punishable by death under Mosaic Law.

The Hebrew term for "abomination" (to'evah) refers to practices forbidden to the Israelites.

Interpretations of Leviticus 20:13 vary. Some view it as a timeless prohibition against homosexual acts, while others place it in its historical context.

==============================================

In another thread you used the Bible New Testament verse John 8:7 as some sort of mitigating factor:

Kirk never mentioned it as such when referring to the Old Testament verse. He considered homo an abomination for which there is no forgiveness.

And it isn't about queers. It's about adultery and forgiveness. It's apples and oranges.

from Marine Egan ...

i m all for any speech and all the consequences that are coming with ... i will never call for any censorship, what i tried to explain is that the speeches of the person killed and considered by some a hero will be considered hate speeches in different countries including new zealand ... not what your buddy wrote. hope it is more clear now.

Again, gentlemen.

Watch and decide for yourselves.

So much of this discussion is like critiquing a film without watching it or reviewing a book one hasn’t read.

I seldom watch videos, but I made an exception for that and watched two of the clips--about abortion and birthright citizenship. I didn't watch more because the commercials annoyed me.

In the two clips I watched, Kirk didn't seem to be listening to his questioner. He kept fidgeting around and yawned at one point. I won't call the exchange a debate; the kid he discussed abortion with prattled on and on. I finally realized he was agreeing with Kirk.

The "debate" with the other kid over birthright citizenship ignored the plain wording of the 14th amendment. Kirk claimed with no authority that the amendment had been misinterpreted by the Supreme Court. Again, the opponent was young and inexperienced in debate.

I was not impressed.

Give me a single post I have ever made that is or supported racism.

you have a problem with me to bad and continue to support trump ... by the way as you have seen you re not enough on the right chess for some of your buddies here ...

You could learn something from that Phil. I have my own opinions and most on the right here accept that I dont allays agree with them, and dont hold it against me. And I respect that.

But once again you are full of shit because you have no idea about what you say, and you say some stupid things, and I dont respect that.
