I was thinking we were going to discuss Biden's domestic economic policies.

Not that they're really relevant still. I wonder how long it will take for Trump to screw it all up with his tariff and other policies.

It's real simple to me.

I don't know of a situation where a corrupt means (methods, agents, etc.) resulted in an end (outcome/consequences) that was not also corrupt.

Name one if you can think of one.

The potential for much multiplied corruption is far greater than good with Trumpism. He's multiplying the odds by the minute, and he isn't even in office yet.

Trump will not pivot. He's a known quantity.

So, you think Trump represents and/or promises "traditional America"?

When I say corruption, I'm talking about the trail of American Carnage Trump leaves behind with himself and those in his orbit or cast aside or fell. There are many. And as far as I know there has been nothing like it before.

There is absolutely no reason to expect the corruption carnage to stop. It may be too overwhelming to keep up with and much of it covered up. But for certain it will increase a lot.

When the American Carnage regime pivots, I will apologize and acknowledge that you knew something all along that I didn't know. That's something IMO you can't do and won't do. But Im sure I won't have to because there is no way Trump will pivot in his quest to break the system and rule of law. So far he has won against the odds. There is little reason to think he and his carnage won't achieve their goals.

The trail of American Carnage Trump leaves behind:

It's a false equiv too. Trump says he will pardon many convicted of violent crimes.

You like spin, a lot, so it could be argued that Trump gave Biden the open line.

The one pardon that I hope Biden doesn't give is to Trump.

There are many cases where neither Biden nor Trump can receive or give pardons.

I don’t agree that Biden will be forgotten historically.

The last quarter of the 20th and first quarter of the 21st centuries (maybe longer) is likely going to be remembered for the inability to weed out incompetent office holders, and Regan and Biden will be prime exhibits of dementia being known by the cabinet and not acted on.

And Trump may be remembered for the inability of the "system" to "weed out" an office holder far more sinister than mere over the hill dementia. Instead, the "system" provided an avenue for real insanity to enter the WH.

Also, Trump is elderly. He's already exhibiting some dementia signs. It's gonna get worse. We just don't know how fast and how effectively it will be covered up.

In part Trump will be remembered because the GOPers didn't impeach/convict when they had the chance - cowards.

Biden may be remembered as the last of the old-school institution. Trump may be remembered as the first fascist.

Another thing that Trump excels at:

Trade wars and tariffs.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...2C%20Mexico%2C%20and

Trump administration farmer bailouts are a series of United States bailout programs introduced during the first presidency of Donald Trump as a consequence of his "America First" economic policy to help US farmers suffering due to the US-China trade war and trade disputes with European Union, Japan, Canada, Mexico, and others. China and respectively European reconcilable tariffs imposed on peanut butter, soybeans, orange juice, and other agriculture products had hit hard, especially swing states, such as Iowa, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

‘Here’s your check’: Trump’s massive payouts to farmers will be hard to pull back
The president was already spending double his predecessor to spare farmers the cost of his trade war. Now the price is reaching unsustainable levels.

https://www.cfr.org/blog/92-pe...il-out-angry-farmers

92 Percent of Trump’s China Tariff Proceeds Has Gone to Bail Out Angry Farmers

“China” is “paying billions and billions of dollars” on U.S. tariffs, President Trump said in his debate with Joe Biden on October 22. “And you know who got the money? Our farmers. Our great farmers.”

He is half right.

Since 2018, the president has repeatedly insisted that China pays the tariffs he has imposed on Chinese imports. This claim is false—the tariffs are paid entirely by U.S. importers. His advisers, such as Peter Navarro, knowing the claim is false, have tried to defend him, and the tariffs, by arguing that China pays the tariffs indirectly, through currency depreciation and lowering export prices. These arguments are also false, as well as illogical—since the advisers also claim that such Chinese behavior benefits China and hurts the United States.

The president’s statements do, however, check out on his other point. American farmers have indeed laid claim to nearly all his China tariff revenue, which now totals $66 billion.

In 2018 and ’19, Trump authorized payments to U.S. farmers of $28 billion to offset their losses from Chinese trade retaliation. This year, with farmers struggling under the twin crises of the trade war and the pandemic, bailouts have soared way higher. Trump promised angry farmers another $19 billion in April and $14 billion in September—bringing his bailouts to a grand total of $61 billion. He has pledged to continue these bailouts until the trade war ends.

Some federal bailout funds intended to help farmers weather former President Donald Trump’s trade war with China and the Covid-19 pandemic went instead to people living in some of the wealthiest communities in the U.S. – including one of Trump's Mar-a-Lago neighbors.

EWG found the recipients of two Trump-era Department of Agriculture disaster programs – the Market Facilitation Program, or MFP, and the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program, or CFAP – included Anne Smith, whose $23 million mansion is just a block from Mar-a-Lago. She received $983.25 in MFP funding.

I don't see anyone making fun, I wouldn't.

But I am perplexed. As I've said before, "what am I missing here?!?!?!" Kabluey will vouch for that quote.

Steve, let's start with the easy one, "no wars". Not true. We were eyeball deep in Afghanistan and at the end of his term Trump had not won which means in modern day terminology, Trump lost in Afghanistan. We know now today in absolute Biblical truth that each and every POTUS from "W" to Biden should have conquered and destroyed on their watch. Finish what you started, "Git er done!" or don't bother. Our globe would be in different circumstances today if "W" and those after him would have triumphed in their first term in office.

2nd easiest, energy independence, started in 2010. Come on Man.

Abraham Accord I like and acknowledge. I have said many times that I also support and encourage America's engagement with DPRK. I believe it a monumental mistake to isolate Kim Shit Pick and the North Koreans. "Saving Face" has nothing to do with avoiding Nuke Armageddon. If I had it my way after Vlad sent DPRK 100 Special Goats America would send them 400. I hope Trump sends 600.

Are we really going to lay accomplishment at the feet of a one term president for low inflation?

As I see it, As I think is fact, Trump failed in Afghanistan, failed with Corona, failed with DPRK, failed with our economy, (corona,) and failed and failed and failed and failed.

And before anyone asks what I think should have been done different, FUCK! Something other than what he said and did! I'm not POTUS, I don't have access to the experts and leaders they do, that's why I vote for someone other than me for President! If I had the answers I'd be President or King for the Day or something like that. We elect these guys to do something we can't. If they fail in their task, we certainly dont re elect them right?

Steve, you've said more than once that the last election was a binary choice. Ok, cool, Trumps back, warts and all. The warts have to be acknowledged, the warts have to be seen as the warts they are.

"A man believes what he wants to believe and disregards the rest." Paul Simon. One has to disregard a lot to elevate Trump to a status of decency, fit for office. Heck, he couldn't pass the FBI or DOJ security test, but he's gonna be POTUS.

That's why I used the short term - Belief in Fiction. That's how Trump won the election. I can't think of a better explanation.

His character, virtues, morals, history, accomplishments, behavior, promises, etc. IMO don't add up as enough to warrant the votes he got. But, add in the constant stream of lies, lies supporting previous lies, spin and supportive spin from GOPers in congress, Fox News propaganda, people like Flynn and Bannon and many others spewing lies and propaganda, support from people like Musk who had a lot to gain - all upside, no downside.

Trump beat the system and was rewarded for it. There was a constant stream of money flowing to cover legal fees and costs plus enough for campaign, and money left over for himself, friends and family.

If you take away the lies, it's like a shit-bag with a leaking hole in the bag. What's left is a stinking bag. And the stink is the Belief in Fiction.

And guess what? What is it that's required to sustain the shit-bag with a hole in it? It's the same thing that got him this far, which is lots more lies, fiction, and belief thereof.

The gravitational pull to a corrupt power center like Trump draws corrupt people like flies, all expendable given circumstances. The monster orgs like Heritage Foundation see the possibilities too. Just look at all those who were thrown under the bus so far, lawyers and others, or fell of their own accord, including those convicted for violent behavior on January 6, 2021. Look at who he plans to pardon and has pardoned. The key for plans to pardon is "violent criminals". The key to many he has pardoned is the quid pro quo - silence for pardon, Flynn, Manafort, Stone for examples.

What a hoot. The Fanni, Garland, the N.Y. Cabal and Harris, I can assure you, spent multiples more in trying to suppress the nation’s electoral preferences than Trump spent defending himself. They’ve failed in all the cases except in the People’s Republic of New York and the bullshit cases there are so blatantly flawed and politically motivated, they’ll be gone on appeal soon.

Thank God that Trump had funds to defend himself from the actively combined and conspiring powers of state and the Federal governments because the abuse of their unlimited assets, unless checked by a sound butt whipping, will only lead to more lawfare and our inevitable loss of our own personal freedoms.

Let's start the list with the Abraham Accord.

Moving the Israel embassy to Jerusalem.

Inflation under 2%

NO WARS

A very large moment towards energy independence.

I'll check back in after you guys make fun of my post.

Scott,
All I will say is that there is nothing in your post that I agree with. In fact, we are so far apart I don’t think it is worth my while to even respond with all the why’s. I would have to spend a day at my computer to write them.

Trump's "accomplishments" during his first term were so poor and disappointing to the far right that they have been fomenting plans to not be disappointed or frustrated again. This plan is many years in the making, perhaps close to fruitarian now.

Here's one main thing Trump lied about, pretending to distance himself from, during his campaign.

Funny thing - lots of nominations and appointments so far with the Heritage Foundation and Fox News acting like a staffing agency.
