In any case there are some of our fellow Americans or some of our American locations we are going to have our hands on to assist/ manage/ help/ correct/ whatever. Our fellow Americans in the Corrections system can hold a shovel, chainsaw, drive a loader and cook a meal. Our fellow Americans on assistance and other aid can do some housekeeping, pump some gasoline, roll up fire hoses and sweep stations.

Our Wilderness areas do have trails that need to be maintained, our other public lands need fences repaired, windows washed, trees cut and somebody please get those damned goats/ cows/ horses/ friggin buffalo back on their side of the fence! Tree thinning and brush cutting doesn't have to be done in catastrophic wildfire and true, we don't need to perch the 19year old on top of the 2024 model d8, but that 1994model with a bad cylinder or two could teach them a lesson or two.

I am all in for bringing back the CCC and other public works - teach a person discipline, work, taking orders and corrections, learning at least 1, if not several, trades, learning self-respect, not fragile egoism ---

Not everything needs to be privately owned, a point where I diverge from Libertarian orthodoxy.

As a country, we need to help California’s recovery. That said, we don’t need to enable ninny Newsom to continue the absolutely stupid and disaster prone policies that caused the devastating scope of the fires.

Over and over, California has proven it can’t discipline itself as to land management. Giving them money without enforceable guidelines is just replenishing the box of matches a four-year-old used to start the fire that burned down his family’s house.

Somebody tell me why we should give California a free hand to double-down its failed policies. Insurance companies saw the handwriting on the wall and began leaving some time ago. Why shouldn’t the Federal government be barred from reading the same message that building houses in wildfire zones (with no proactive firebreaks, flammable debris clean up, full water reservoirs, etc.) is only creating another inevitable catastrophe.

And, anyone here think Newsom is trustworthy?

However, I do agree with your idea in general for several reasons.

Remember, the army corp. of engineers built the ALCAN and the dams on the Chattahoochee for examples. Somehow a combo or at least coordination between the CCC and army Corp. of engineers might be a good idea too.

A lot could be accomplished as well as self-esteem of the participants. The best thing about it, as I see it, is that at least such participants will be serving their country and fellows, rather than letting their life's essence go to servitude of the oligarchs.

I haven't verified this, but I read that California contributes more, total, than any other state to the Federal coffers than it gets back.

A new CCC would be a good way to give participants a method to pay back student loans for worthless degrees in Transexual Gender Studies in Lower Primates and Armadillos (or whatever is trending).
