He had to step down from leading two different veteran's groups because of "financial impropriety" and repeated drunkenness, including getting on the stage at a strip club to dance during a trip for one of them, and that was before he paid off the woman he sexually assaulted.

I once defended a fellow who spent two years in jail, awaiting trial for rape. The trial started on a Monday morning and put him on an airplane back to his home in North Carolina, Wednesday in the middle of the day. My brother pointed out the fact that there is no sex that does not have a consequence. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good. Sleeping with someone that you don’t know is never smart. It is easy to allege rape, but sometimes almost impossible to defend against. I don’t know what this fellow did or didn’t do, but Hegseth is paying the consequence for drinking too much whiskey and lying down with a woman who apparently voluntarily went to his hotel room for a purpose other than a simple discussion of the art of Mahjong.

It has been reported that the accuser’s husband was a couple of floors below her in the hotel taking care of the children, and was texting her the entire time trying to find out why she had not come back to the hotel room. I wonder where, when she returned to her husband, all that fits into the matrix of the allegation.

I had a classmate get blackmailed by a woman.
He was very shy, and when this woman came on to him, some friends did a little digging. She made her money sueing men. He was to shy, wouldnt ever lay a hand on her for anything, so she filed a rape claim against him. She reversed her claim when he paid her demanded price.

I hope Hegseth sticks it out and gets the chance to prove himself.
