Try to imagine a world where a DOJ controlled by trump would be prosecuting one of the trump spawn.

Never happen.

Rachel Maddow looks at the lengths to which Republicans are going to abuse their power in order to interfere in the criminal prosecutions of Donald Trump, and encourages principled Americans to impose the shame and disgrace Trump sycophants are earning with their attacks on the U.S. justice system.

======================================================

Maddow is assuming Trump sycophants are capable of shame. You can't shame the shameless.

It depends on your definition of "viable".

So far, you have made that definition clear.

So long as he's republican, he's viable, regardless of, or more probable because of the magnitude of political corruption in plain sight.

They accuse Maddow of whatever simply because she speaks the truth, says what they refuse to hear, and it's not the affirmation, closed bubble, feedback loop, lies, like Fox News spew.

Here's an explanation of the political corruption, republicanism used to vilify but now
GOPers embrace, which the Founders explained. The effective tactics of a demagogue are on full display.

There is the hypocrisy, the lying, and the transactional part of it.

That Trump violated the law, has been convicted w due process given and still both given does not matter. What matters is he is the GOP Nominee, and the GOP Nominee must go over.

Thus, Dr. Easter justifies lying about the process applied to Trump.

It is all ends justify the means. It is all political hackness.

Lane, if Trump is considered ineligible, by definition we will have a different qualified Republican candidate.

Unfortunately, the Trump wing of the party wants Trump again as a punishment to the left for putting Biden in office.

As much as I can agree his policies may be better, pretty much any conservative candidate would beat Biden in that regard.

So why is he the candidate given all of his baggage?

It isn’t like no one else could beat Biden.

Doc, you're almost there.

Why is he the presumed nominee? Because they are afraid - of him and losing again.

He has intimidated the establishment of the GOP, just like a mob boss.

They had two chances to render him ineligible, by impeachment for good cause, yet they towed the party line and saved him. They were afraid then, more so now.

And it's far more than merely revenge or punishment re Biden, or even for the left in general.

It's about the 20,000 shock troops, Project 2025, and much more, which are not aligned with traditional republican values, but something sinister.

I'm not so sure any republican candidate would beat Biden because the goals - the ends - are still there. Trump is the best means or tool because he knows instinctively, with help, how to play demagoguery.

Insofar as his accomplishments - any good competent republican POTUS could accomplish far more, for the sake of the country, which is not the same as far right deems it.

The thing is far right repugs are afraid. They know their goals and ideas about governance are losers, and can't be won at the polls if promoted in reality rather than alt-reality.

So, the only path forward, other than compromise, is to win by demagoguery, lies and propaganda, full-on political corruption, with the help of a propaganda spin machine like Fox and Heritage Foundation.

The Left did not put President Biden in office.

A due and constitutional election duly vested President Biden in office.

It took both citizens from both parties.
Look at GA as an example.

Georgia lawmakers pass more voting rules ahead of 2024 election
Mar 29, 2024

Laura Barron-Lopez:

Conspiracy theories and lies about election fraud have been front and center, especially in a state like Georgia. Do you think that this new piece of legislation will actually quell any concerns there for voters?

Sam Gringlas:

You know, I think this is a really important point.

Since the 2020 election, we have seen several attempts to revise Georgia election law. And in many cases, these moves have been driven by false claims about election fraud in 2020 that have persisted several years on.

We heard last night from one Democratic lawmaker who said that this is a bit like negotiating with terrorists to negotiate with election deniers, people that, no matter how many changes you make to Georgia election law, will maybe never really be satisfied as long as these conspiracy theories continue to persist. And it ends up being a bit of a vicious cycle.

So I think these next elections will continue to test the staying power of some of these false claims about election fraud that really emerged in the lead-up to the 2020 election and are still with us today.

Georgia Audit Confirms Trump (Primary) Victory

March 22nd, 2024

Atlanta - Using the same equipment as in the 2020 election, an audit of the Republican race in the 2024 Presidential Preference Primary confirmed former President Donald Trump as the winner. This week, all 159 Georgia counties conducted a post-election audit of ballots cast in the March 12th Republican Presidential Preference Primary . As part of the audit, every Georgia county was required to count randomly selected ballots totaling 413 batches from across the state, or 7.5% of ballots overall. The risk limiting audit was conducted with a 5% risk limit.

What's the difference in being amoral toxic narcissistic or delusional, or psychotic, as it applies to feeling no shame?

Do you think Charles Manson felt shame for what he did? If you figure no, then what difference does it make how he got there?

2019, record deficits, tax cuts for the wealthy that did not pay off, foreign policy an 8th grader could have come up with that basically consisted of "I'm taking my ball and going home" and cozying up to dictators and autocrats, impeached for trying to blackmail Zalensky, the Doha Accord.

And all that before the asshat tried to steal the election.

First, he has no shame or remorse for the criminal actions he was found guilty of.

If he pretended any, it would be evident, totally out of character. He's not going to do that anyway.

He will double down on his false narratives, and attacks on the judiciary in spite of gag orders. Dare them to throw him in jail.

He thinks that's wise, or at least he can't think otherwise. His thinking, for lack of a better word, is beyond the ability of "normal" people to understand. Those who might project their reasoning upon him are making a mistake, IMO. Give him credit where due, he has earned it, not your own values projected.

Given his success with GOPers so far, maybe he's right, in a perverted way.

That's equating "win" with "right"; strategy per a demagogue.

Real conservatives aren't radicalized. Thus "radicalized conservative" is an oxymoron. Yet there are many radicalized republicans.

Per my far-right friend: "reality sucks"

Imagine that!!!

I read an opinion recently that Nixon resigned because he felt shame, because or aside from knowing he faced impeachment and prosecution.

Imagine that!!!

Cohen felt shame too.

Costello did not.

Most people, even bad actors, have some shame in them.

There are several in the news now who are incapable of shame; DJT, MTG, Trump sycophants, etc. They will never apologize to the nation for their intentional harm.

Let Karma sort it out.

I have been around people like this and the reason they do not feel shame is because they truly to not think they did anything wrong, even when faced with overwhelming evidence they cannot accept that they did anything wrong so if they in their own minds do not think they did anything wrong why would they feel shame or remorse?

Are we saying the same thing? I think so.

What's the difference in being amoral toxic narcissistic or delusional, or psychotic, as it applies to feeling no shame?

Do you think Charles Manson felt shame for what he did? If you figure no, then what difference does it make how he got there?

Yes we are saying the same thing. There is a class of people who in their minds can do nothing wrong. I do not want to call them crazy because they come in all kinds from killers like Manson, normal people, CEO's and ex-presidents that just cannot see that they do anything wrong. One CEO that I know personally ran a multibillion dollar company into the ground and bankruptcy. That was 15 years ago and to this day he does not see that he did anything wrong. All the issues with the company were caused by other people and events even though it was his decisions that caused all the issues.

The interesting thing is every time I see this behavior, the person always blames someone else. they NEVER take responsibility for their actions if something goes wrong but always take credit when it goes well. I think it is a personality flaw that some people just have and there is nothing that can fix it, even jail time.
