We will switch to zinc alloy pot metal using what we don't use any more on pennies or maybe brass for really expensive stuff. A CPI "substitution bias" case. Maybe I'll visit IMS Metals this morning and see what's changed.

ledvmIn my real-estate buying/remodeling business…I buy a good bit steel (red-iron, fencing tubing, sheet metal) along with lumber. Again…I will worry when I see my invoices start increasing.

Remember when, under jobama, a sheet of CDX was like 75 bucks? Lumber prices through the roof?

It's more like a strategy, Trump style.
"Policy" might be something like, cut him loose trust him and see what happens. After all he's a deal maker and business man - right?

Not to mention con-artist, fraud and scammer and liar.
What's the purpose of the strategy? Did he even say? How is it supposed to be measured as to success or not?

Was that due to a supply shortage and increased demand or tariffs Daisey? Good old supply and demand seems to be something that you just can't wrap that tiny little brain of yours around.

Bill LeeperI don't know what his strategy might be, but he has accomplished little. He has managed to make Trudeau less unpopular. He has managed to alienate a majority of Canadians.
Canada's response to Trump's blustering bullshit should be to ignore him while seeking out alternative markets for exports. Also, building up a manufacturing base and refining our own raw materials, rather than exporting them.
Trump talks about a 51st state (more bullshit, of course), he can only be doing this in an attempt to piss people off. Canada, while deep in debt after 9 years of Liberal waste, can potentially get out of debt. The US cannot, except by defaulting. Of course, defaulting on a debt is nothing new to Donald Trump. Bill.

Trump doesn't have the patience or the intellect to sort out the collateral damage from the Project 2025 proposals.
It is our good fortune that he is trying them out during a period of relative strength.
Our Republic will survive, and be repaired in due course.

I'm not sure that this tariff thing is part of the Project 2025 fascist manifesto, which Trump doesn't have the aptitude to implement by himself. And the problem with that is that he thinks he knows it all and doesn't listen. That may be a saving grace. He can't help. Instead, he could just get in their way. The real fascists have to stumble all over Trump in their path with stupid narcissist shit.
Regarding collateral damage, he doesn't care about that. It's the let's make a deal bully thing a Dark Triad sadist would plot.

LHeym500Only in Trump World does adding cost to raw materials not increase prices to those who buy those materials or products made w those materials.
Only in Trump World does a President through a dubiously legal executive order artificially create an environment for price increases on American consumers, after an election that was about things costing too much, be considered a good thing.
