How many times in your life have you advocated the philosophy of Karl Rove?

How many times have you vehemently disagreed?

I have simply ignored Karl Rove. I didn't agree or disagree with him. So, whatever, Karl Rove's influence on me is beside the point.

He obviously had a lot of influence with conservatives for a long time, and apparently was respected for his opinions.

Now, in the video clip he has expressed his opinion of Trump. Does he still have credibility with you? That is the issue and question.

Rove is a good political analyst. He understands statistics and voting trends. I listen to his analysis of such.

As to his politics…never really cared for them. He is way too liberal for my goals.

Thus he is very credible to me on political analysis and his political views as always have gone in one ear and out the other.

You are really good at that trick.

Must be natural gift, well developed. Wink

Did you ever pause the info between your ears to consider that "political analysis" often and probably leads to "political views"?

But of course, I realize that analysis could lead to conflict with favored views. IOW your echo chamber, between your ears, is a more highly developed cognitive bias screen than average.

That's my analysis. Wink

I actually agree with Dr. Easter. An analyst can be very good and his politics arent your brand of vodka. Rove and Carville both come to mind. I think both of them are pretty sharp but I dont agree with alot of their personal positions.

A lot of conservatives had/have much respect for Rove, for a long time.

He was more than an analysist.

Rove shaped policy, got people elected, and is a former chief of staff. He is not a mere analyst.

I would agree, as an example, for W he was much more than an analyst just as Carville was for previous administration. At this point I think of Rove with his dry erase board discussing paths to victory. He is pretty decent at it. He for sure would not be the first NeoCon that fell out of love with Trump.

I went back to the OP link and watched/listened to the video again, paying special attention to his type of analysis. First, he stated several facts. Then he stated his summary of conclusions or opinions stemming from facts while mixing in more facts as support. This what he has done for many years and has become highly skilled with the cognitive process.

Also note, his final comment where he didn't try to get inside Trump's head and speculate. IMO, that's important.

So, it's pretty much settled that Rove is not just an opinion spouter.

Thus, if argument herein ensues, it should be on the facts and conclusions per Rove as he stated in the video.

NeoCon

I looked that word up, for whatever it's worth in the context of this thread:

Neoconservatism is a political movement that began in the United States and the United Kingdom during the 1960s during the Vietnam War among foreign policy hawks who became disenchanted with the increasingly pacifist Democratic Party and with the growing New Left and counterculture of the 1960s. Neoconservatives typically advocate the unilateral promotion of democracy and interventionism in international affairs, …

IF he was a Neoconservative, it just goes to show that some people, especially those who can analyze, can change their views with good reason.

Most likely he was never "in love" with Trump. But he is/was in love, so to speak, with conservativism.

Rove recognizes that Trump is not a conservative, old school - new school, whatever.

Of course not. Trump is an autocrat, grasping for power. He sees what Putin, Xi and Kim have and wants the same for himself.

In his less lucid moments he’s even admitted it - “Maybe we should try that sometime!” His brainwashed supporters will of course say, “Oh, he was only joking…”

In their addled minds they would hand over the worlds largest economy and the world’s largest military to a man who could bankrupt a casino and demonstrate his ability to keep a vow by cheating on three wives.

His own rhetoric gives him away.

I would tend to agree that being NeoCon does not have a ton of context here. That said, based on the roles he played, I would say at one point he was one. That is not a dig, at one point I was. As far as being in love with Trump, I doubt he voted for Hillary of him. Much like myself. As the days pass you can see that Trump is not a true conservative. Being a lifelong republican, there are other people I would much rather see. Tom Cotton comes to mind for me. I wont be voting for Trump or Biden.
