good, let's see this play out in a court - We'll have an answer... trump won't accept it, though

Different topic, but, I got to say, it seems a little strange that the judge that is going to preside over the documents case was appointed by trump. Surprised that she hasn't voluntarily recused herself or that the DOJ hasn't filed a motion to force her to do so.

Interesting too that apparently no other members of his WH team have gotten the same letter. Appears to be a narrowly focused grand jury investigation looking into his actions concerning a plan to substitute fake electors in 5 states he lost. Oh, that’s right, he didn’t lose those states.

You don’t know that JDollar. Most don’t broadcast that notice, but Trump wants to get ahead of the story.

I don't doubt that her assignment was random, the cases are assigned as they get filed but damn. This woman got a life-time appointment from trump as a United States District Judge and that is a highly prized job in the legal world. There aren't too many folks as powerful as a federal court trial judge. It just doesn't seem right that she would be presiding over a case where the man who gave her the job is a defendant. She should recuse based on the appearance of impropriety.

I would think that if the case is open and shut, it actually is better to have a Trump appointed judge. Takes one of Trump’s usual refrains away from him.

She's already been called on the carpet for giving the appearance of showing favoritism. Then again the actions f Clarence thomas and others says that the appearance of impropriety doesn't ean shit to them. I expect that she will be watched VERY CLOSELY and her decisions will be appealed or she will be thrown off of the case as necessary.

I think some have been granted immunity in return for their testimony at trial.

Liars in the Trump organization? Never!

Trump is not running for POTUS to serve. He's running to escape.

For those who claim that all these investigations, target letters, prosecutions are politically motivated, think about it this way ---- if Trump is re-elected, before or after prosecution or conviction, then he will pardon all those 1/6 convictions (for a substantial fee perhaps) and all those collateral targets of political allies too, and himself. He will extract revenge in any way he can, in addition to fundamentally changing govt structure and the relationship of the three branches. The states will follow suit.

If all that, the campaigns, the donations, the escape from accountability, and the consequences are not politically motivated then I don't know what is.

“It was my understanding that the president made this decision” to initiate the fake elector gambit, former Trump campaign associate general counsel Joshua Findlay told committee investigators.

The committee, for its part, described the fake elector scheme as “carefully planned” and “many weeks in the making”.

The investigation by the January 6th Committee provides a glimpse into the potential factual allegations that could form the basis for a looming indictment against Trump centered on his effort to overturn the 2020 election.

Neither Trump nor representatives of his campaign could be reached for comment for this story.

Collateral prosecutions?

I think you need to add the qualifiers “he will want to” and “he will try to” to your statements regarding Trump and his goals/wishes.

Want him to go away? Biden could do it.

“Donald, all you need to do is publicly ask for a pardon, and I will give you one.”

Then follow through with it.

It gets rid of Trump’s whole persecution angle, and gets Trump in the hot seat of admitting that he would like it to go away and disenfranchising Trumps supporters who go on about how he’s one of us who is not in the political elite (BS, by definition an ex president is a political elite.)

He didn't say it- if he said it and meant it, it would cook Trump.

Yea, me too.

There are so many ways this could play out; hung jury, for example.

One thing for sure, if he's elected again, assuming he's not yet sentenced, the whole mess of prosecutions will disappear, replaced with another and worse mess.
