The point as I see it is the concern that Trump will cut off the Ukrainians and make them capitulate to Russia.

I think it’s a valid concern given what he says, but I don’t think it’s a fact that he will try. Trump’s mouth is always going and he’s said things that can be interpreted multiple ways.

If he can get Russia to end the war on terms that while not ideal are acceptable to Ukraine, that sounds like a win.

If he gets the western allies to take defense seriously, that’s a positive although doing it by offending our allies is not a good way to do it.

I have noticed some articles from good sources, and read some of them, which lend some credibility to Trump's approach.

Of course, we all hope that Trump knows what he's doing, even though some, perhaps most of us don't trust that.

Either way, it's not within our ability to alter the course. All we can do is watch and speculate.

Your first linked article, whilst interesting, assumes that Ukraine is not a sovereign state with the right to do as it pleases, but instead should be viewed as a semi autonomous republic whose actions and foreign policy must always be geared to not offending Russia.

The argument that NATO/ EU boarders are getting to close and threaten Russia doesn’t make sense. The EU has had direct boarders with Russia for decades, and in the case of Kaliningrad they totally surround Russian territory. At no point has the EU sought to destabilise, invaded or ferment rebellion or unrest in Russia. The so called/perceived threat is a Russian excuse for doing exactly these things to a neighbour it wants to control.

Its actions in Ukraine have increased the direct boarders between NATO and Russia, and Putin has said this is not a concern, directly contradicting his comments on Ukraine.

In part, my point is there are some narratives out there trying to give Trump's ploy credibility in appeasing Putin.

I've thought all along that Trump being an asset or compromised to Putin has prolonged the war. The GOP didn't help either. Putin's long game included a shift in US political power.

Well, after today's shit-show in the Oval Office, I guess we know where this is headed. trump is going to cut Ukraine loose because Zelensky failed to ass-kiss him hard enough.

And with France and Uk doing a minerals deal with Ukraine, then I think Trumps realising he's less important than he thought.
