Catfishing etiquette - Trotliners

Lane applies different rules when talking about the MAGA ARSEHOLE!

I posted the video link mostly because I found it interesting. The narrator is a talk-over with running a trotline for mostly flathead catfish in the video.

The location is Hornersville Swamp Conservation Area, 3226 acres of woods and swamp in Missouri near the Mississippi River. The reason they caught so many is because they are plentiful there.

The flathead catfish is native to the Mississippi watershed, but it was introduced and considered invasive elsewhere. The fish is an aggressive predator, not a bottom feeder, and once established can't be eradicated. It lurks in deep holes with structure like logs, etc., by day, and prowls by night, hunting. The best bait is live bluegills.

This species of catfish can grow to larger than 50 lbs. I never caught one that big and wouldn't know what to do with it anyway since I prefer smaller fish for eating - 20 lbs at most. I know people who would take a large fish so I would probably just give it away.

Anyway, those guys show very well the methods I use when running trotlines targeting flathead. I do it solo, but the setup is the same as they demonstrate.

Note that they unclip the drop line from the main line as or before bringing the fish aboard and deal with the hook later. They use large circle hooks, and the drop line is tied in a loop and smaller than the mainline https://www.walmart.com/ip/Bra...26?classType=VARIANT

The mainline is #96 three strand twisted nylon & tarred. https://www.memphisnet.net/pro...ine-Twine-4-lb-Spool The reason for that specific size and specs is because it's easier on the hands and because the clip fits it perfectly without sliding and no need for additional knots or beads.

I get frustrated as hell by people who don't take their crap home with them but choose to throw it out by the side of the road too. Fortunately most fishermen do clean up after themselves and not leave shit on the bank, so I should be thankd=ful for that.

So are your examples from your point of view or Lane’s? Because BLM/anti police brutality riots were not incited by Biden and company. Give more examples if you want, but you can’t show Biden telling crowds that they have to “fight like hell”. He didn’t say to be anywhere on a certain date because “it will be wild”. He didn’t have a disgraced former mayor say we’re going to have “trial by combat”.

If anyone wants to say Hunter’s prosecution was non-political, let’s see examples of anyone else getting prosecuted for the exact same crimes with as much zeal. I do believe that blanket pardons are not a good idea, but who wouldn’t do the same when a want to be dictator is threatening prosecution for having his feelings hurt? I was unbelievably disappointed when we left Afghanistan. No notice, just “see ya”. It was a messed up in every way imaginable. I was at Bagram Airfield from May ‘05 to May ‘06. All that we did, all the blood, sweat, and tears. The lives lost. All the money spent…wasted. It was disgusting. We didn’t lose any soldiers. One guy came back without an arm. We all came back changed. I do not worship the ground any politician walks on.
