Or, perhaps, this so-called blueprint does not reflect true conservative values nor those of grassroots Republicans. In many cases people may be fiscally conservative yet relatively progressive socially. One can be tolerant yet not quite accepting. Given the power, through your tolerance, implementation has practically nothing hinged on used-to-be "true" conservative values, grassroot republicans' acceptance. True enough, but when was the last time either party was fiscally conservative? Not in my lifetime and I'm 53 years old. Both parties talk a good game about being fiscally responsible, especially when they are not in power, but neither has acted that way in many decades. Today it seems as though divergent viewpoints are not welcome in either party. Are you seeing many socially progressive legislatures in the GOP or social/religious conservatives in the Democratic party? I'm not. What I see is very little independent thought and most people on both sides parroting the party positions. | |||
