As my work takes me away from home Julie and I decided to get a big dog an American Mastiff. We live on a farm and this dog knows our friends and staff but will attack anyone venturing into his territory having warned them with his impressive bark. If we have kids around I lock him up just as a precaution. He serves a purpose and defends my wife. He doesn't even like me hugging her and god forbid anyone that approaches her that he does not recognize.

I also had an English Bull Mastiff that remained comatose for most of his life and his only action was to sleep and eat. It was like owning a pig. One day a rabid dog entered our yard and targeted one of my sons. There was a blur of white and brown as the mastiff decapitated the rouge beast He then ambled back to his bed and slept for another year.
