I have less than no interest in ultra small fractions of our nation having national monuments and recognition. This is ridiculous.

We remove the recognition of real persons and moments like Jeffersons Birthday and Washington's birthday to stand up and salute Juneteent and Stonewall.

I thought removal of confederate names and statues was beneath our government.

I also think the same of Trump's behavior.

While I don't think Harvey Milk did anything worthy of getting a naval ship named after him, once the government did so, that's the end of it in my book.

The Tuskegee airmen deserve recognition and are part of our history. Trump removing it from an airforce web page does not remove the history. That those guys despite the lack of education and equal access in society volunteered and were able to perform in combat and have one of the best records in the ETO is certainly worth celebrating.

But I am also willing to admit that if you are not covering the air war in Europe in WWII in your history class, then there really is no reason to talk about the red tail squadron. Bringing up the Tuskegee airmen without discussing what they were actually doing and how it fit in from a military perspective just to make some point about racism is not history.
