I have repeatedly said, and believe it to be true, there is no charge which could be levied against Donald Trump which would turn his followers against him, and no proof which would be sufficient to convince them that he is the morally bankrupt weasel he is. Man, this is true. His lawyer was on the news this morning admitting that trump did exactly what he was charged with....which is obviously correct but I'd be wanting counsel that left me with some other options besides jury nullification and this stupid free speech argument they are trying to advance.

IMO, it wasn't stupidity. Aside from several factors that happened at the critical time just before and during the election, practically everyone, by then, knew of the hate that had fomented and festered among the programed and indoctrinated Right. There wasn't anything that could be done by then to mitigate it, so they brushed it off, thinking there was no way Trump could win.
