I have a question for the lawyers. If a person was having a discussion, and trying to make a point, they pulled their jacket back and exposed a weapon. Is "brandishing" illegal? To give a silent threat? Hunter told a reporter the other day he takes calls his father makes, even when having a business meeting. Archer said VP Biden was put on speaker to talk weather and fishing with foreign business people. While that is not illegal. If Hunter was telling the foreigners he has access to Biden, and he "magically calls and puts him on the phone. Is that not "brandishing" Even if it is not illegal, does anyone think it should be done? Not just for a Pres. or VP, but cabinet officials and all.

Here is the kicker. The House subpoenaed Hunter Biden. He appeared. However, in a Court of law to hold a witness in contempt for non appearance, the witness has to be called to testify once they appear. Hunter Biden Appeared. He answered the subpoena. The members of the committee never called him and have him sworn. The Justice Department is not going to prosecute this if they refer it bc he does not get to be held in contempt if he is not called. They made a donkey show out of their horse show. He appeared. The subpoena is satisfied. The Committee never called him. So, it is on the Committee. Simply, sending a subpoena is not calling the witnesses. The subpoena just says: 1) You have to come, 2) you have to come at this day and time, and 3) the location. When the witness shows up, and you do not call them, you can’t move to contempt the witness based on the subpoena. The House may vote to hold in contempt and refer to the DOJ. The lawyers in the DOJ should laugh at the House. Greene should be held in contempt for showing the photograph, again, that has no probative value. Funny Dr. Easter respects a Senator challenging a witness to a fight in the Senate. However, his bunch cannot even follow basic procedure, shows immaterial, not relevant photographs, and it is the fault of the witness who appears. It is okay. Dr. Easter agrees w the ends which are to embarrass the son of a political opponent. It sure was not whether President Biden was influence peddling based on the hearing that actually took place. The means as in following simply procedure which was call the witness does not matter.

OK, no answer. I'll try again. Are you folks ok with relatives using political positions to further their business deals? We have the Biden family, son and brother. Trumps kids certainly benefitted, where is the line drawn? I would like to have congressional members, and family locked out of the stock market while in office, and war chests turned in to the general fund when they leave office. Lets see how many politicians make a career out of staying in washington then.

My answer was directed at the implication that Hunter Biden did something to be held in con by Congress. He did not giving the failure to call him once he appeared. As for your question, in a word No. Did this hearing establish or try to establish that? In a word, no. Is Hunter Biden charged w crime concerning illegal influence? In a word, no. He is charged w tax evasion and a felony firearm possession charge while being a user of illegal drugs.

You asked if I was okay w folks using political relatives to further business deals. I said no. I also point out this hearing today did not establish or try to establish Presidential Biden engaged in criminal influence peddling for his son. I also point out Hunter Biden is not charge w anything that criminally resembles illegal influence peddling. He is charged w tax evasion and a felony gun charge. I have no problem w a subpoenaed witness leaving when they appear and are not called. That is on the party subpoenaing. Call him. If he then leaves, contempt him. If Congress wants to pass a law tightening or sharping laws against influence peddling that would criminalize behavior I am all for it. You are assuming Hunter Biden and President Biden engaged in some illegal influence peddling scheme. The DOI has brought no such charges, and this hearing established no evidence nor testimony of such. Greene did embarrass herself and all of us again. Her efforts are detrimental to the Committee’s goal.

I don't think Members of Congress should be LESS accountable for ignoring Congressional subpoenas than a private citizen, nor should being a Republican grant immunity. If the House wants their subpoenas taken seriously they should start by referring their own Members for Contempt. "If you’re innocent why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”- Donald Trump

You're spot-on as usual, my friend. Would anybody want to do business with Hunter Biden if he wasn't Joe Biden's son? Shit, I wouldn't buy a used car from him. Are there a lot of people that think he has stroke because of who his dad is and he's capitalized on that? No doubt. Has Joe Biden personally participated in it or done anything besides being Hunter Biden's dad? I haven't seen anything that indicates that is the case. Change my mind. -Every damn thing is your own fault if you are any good.

So why didn't they call him as a witness when he answered the subpoena by showing up? Why did they let him go once they had him?

It was a mockery by the Committee that never called him. Greene showing no probative value pictures. Same level as the Senator from Oklahoma. They did not call him. He can go. They did not call him, because they did not want to have a hearing on influence peddling which is what they are supposed to be investigating. They just wanted to embarrass. In doing so, they again demonstrated that can’t run a lemonade stand. If they had called him, I would say contempt him. The DOJ would have to prosecute the referral. The Committee in their stupidity failed to procedural close the gate.

They did not call him as they had no idea that he coming that day and probably weren’t prepared. It was not scheduled. Congress as well as all courts keep and maintain order by adhering to schedules (in case you didn’t know ). They had subpoenaed him for another date in which he did not show. The mockery is made by Hunter. What he did may be technically legal but it was certainly unbecoming of the son of the POTUS. If any other person besides me were making this argument…you too would agree it was unbecoming of the son of the POTUS to pull such a political stunt. If it were a Trump…you would also be screeching. Again Hunter used his status to flip the bird to the US Congress. Some here are totally fine with that. No run of the mill ordinary person would get away with such. Hunter is a miscreant and the US Gvt facilities and actually eggs on his bad behavior. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ J. Congressional hearings have become partisan hatchet jobs, more and more. I dont get worked up over contempt of congress charges as some do. Heym gets goose pimples talking about "the letter of the law" I'm more about morality. I find the money deals, even though legal, wrong.
