Actually, it's because the republicans have destroyed virtually all of the social safety net programs that prevented or minimized homelessness in the past. Why do you think homelessness has exploded over the past few decades? Housing assistance has reached its lowest point in 25 years. Low inventories of available homes and high rents. The poor can't afford a roof. -Every damn thing is your own fault if you are any good. | |||

No one in the USA grew up poorer than I nor lived in a family that took less from the government. The gist of the OP did not happen in that era. Lack of “social safety nets” have zero to do with the occurrence in the OP reference. In regards to your post Mike…the introduction of the so-called social safety nets by our government have produced a non-productive actually a drain in our society. Get a job…go to work! This happens because it's allowed. Trespassers should be removed. Ask nicely, ask firmly, mention consequences, use force, whatever, but trespassers should be removed. What we've removed is the acceptable standards. The accepted standards of speech, dress, behavior, activities is gone. | |||
