I believe in border security and enforcement of the immigration laws. However, if it does not give you pause to see these raids by platoons of "law enforcement officers" armed to the hilt and completely masked like a group of Taliban terrorists, then you need to think twice. I find the masking to be particularly offensive and frankly dangerous. These are law enforcement officials. They should be accountable for their actions, not hiding behind some sort of shemagh or keffiyeh.

. . . just one small difference. The ICE agents are public officials, paid by taxpayers discharging a public function. The hunters are private citizens, privately funded, engaged in a purely personal activity. To me that is a distinction with a difference, your mileage may vary. Allowing your law enforcement officers to run around looking like terrorists to me invites unaccountability.

Do you think that this is the same in other Western European countries? Any time special forces are on the news here their faces are covered, which I can totally understand, and I think ive occasionally seen riot police with faces covered although this could be for other reasons (if you are having fireworks aimed at you).

Although I am not sure what they are afraid of, they are armed with automatic (or semiautomatic) assault rifles, pistols, tons of ammo in high capacity magazines, gas masks, body armor, helmets, etc. Look more like Delta or Seal team operators in Afghanistan than they do like law enforcement officers in LA. There is no reason they need to be running around wearing masks and tactical gear that make them look like secret police thugs.
