Anyway, I don't know what you mean by "you guys" and claiming hypocrisy. If you mean what I think you mean, then you would have to be a believer in Trump's and GOPer's lies about lawfare and that justifies Trump's revenge binge using the power of POTUS.

The "PROBLEM" is that the majority elected a monster narcissist, who will use the power bestowed for retribution and control as he sees fit. He's a man who has shown his character for all to see clearly. He's amoral, spiteful, has no conscience, lies pathologically, bully, plus he has no accountability, no responsibility to norms, no respect for founding principles or institutions, and incompetent. No one of his character should be in a position of power over others, especially POTUS, where he has means to use that power nefariously, malevolently, maleficently, with immunity and impunity.

He will run the WH like a mob boss.

It's a monster's fantasy. And in history when such a person is in such a position, it did not turn out well.

I can't imagine why he won, the depravity of it, and especially how anyone could dream that he will pivot to a good guy.

I mean the democrats and their fellow travelers who thought lawsuits against Trump, republicans, corporations, etc. were wonderful and a sign of a civilized nation, but now that the shoe is on the other foot, it’s intolerable.

Trump is a turd, no argument from me… but I think I was pretty open about saying the other side was identical except for magnitude of turd like behavior.

If suing over turdlike behavior is good for the goose, it’s good for the gander. And the majority of the voters don’t call that false equivalence… Cool

What lawsuits against Trump, Republicans, and corporations are you talking about?

The sexual abuse lawsuit--which Trump lost--was brought by a private individual. Are you saying the Democratic party controlled that lawsuit?

What other lawsuits do you mean? Should corporations be immune for bad behavior?

I don't know what you mean by "turd like behavior".

I do know what you mean by, "And the majority of the voters don’t call that false equivalence…"

Also you say, "I think I was pretty open about saying the other side was identical except for magnitude of (behavior ???)" is your attempt to make equivalence yet double-talk. You just can't help yourself.

I think we said practically the same thing regarding your hypocrisy claim, just using different words.

I wrote: "If you mean what I think you mean, (by hypocrisy claim) then you would have to be a believer in Trump's and GOPer's lies about lawfare and that justifies Trump's revenge binge using the power of POTUS."

=============================

But it is false equivalence.

The civil lawsuits and criminal prosecutions of Trump were consistent with and constrained by the principles of the rule of law. The retaliation per Trump's campaign promises is consistent with the principles of the rule of man pretending otherwise and using, weaponizing, the methods of the rule of law, but not abiding or constrained by it. The former is based on truth, facts and evidence. The latter is based on lies and the will of a madman.

It's a perverted inverted farce.

Trumpism's relationship with the nation is like an abusive relationship. It's a "look what you made me do" thing on a national scale. It's subjecting the nation to the abuse of Trump, as a remedy or just spite, coming from some deep loathing or hate or desire to control and blame shifting, all the while claiming the high ground of patriotic love.

It's sick, exactly like the sickness of a toxic narcissist.

Trump said it clearly: "I am your warrior. I am your retribution. When they come after me, they're coming after you."

I'm not terribly worried about Trump retaliatory legal actions.

If he tries filing meritless lawsuits and prosecutions, I have faith the courts will spank the lawyers and parties involved, just as they did to Giuliani and Trump's other lawyer toadies.

I think you're wrong Roland.

With the power of POTUS, the immunity/impunity, the puppet/parrot loyalists, there is much damage he can and will do.

He has shown us that he can defeat the rule of law through lawfare. As POTUS he has much greater tools. For one thing, if he had not won the primary and the election, he would probably be in jail now.

We underestimated Trump. Let's not continue that mistake. The checks and balance safeguards failed to restrain him already. Now he's really a loose cannon.

If calling me Maggie makes you happy, it's a small price to pay. Bless your heart. Smiler

I don't know about the 1000 times thing. He talks softball most on Fox as I recollect. And when he talks to others, he's generally hostile and always lies no matter which. He does do a lot of talking, mostly nonsense, lies, deflection, double-talk, bully talk, narrative maintenance and fomenting, etc.

I don't think he can END free press, but he can influence and manipulate it in negative ways with threats and intimidation. But I wouldn't rule out some sort of SCOTUS ruling that POTUS immunity extends to press coverage somehow. Out-of-bounds, once that threshold is crossed, where is the line? I don't see a constitution change, unless he suspends it, like he said.

Barr snooped on the press, reporters and congress members and used the tools of the DOJ on behalf of Trump, Surly those tools are at Trump's will with compliant loyalists ready. If Trump can't find real dirt, he will just make it up - same effect, easier and backlash easily mitigated with more lies. (Fake news, enemies of the people) His best tools are people like you, True Believers in Fiction. Of course, there's Fox News, which is his best propaganda media, and apparently regime employment vetting agency.

Give you a break? Heck, I'm trying as best I can to give you a break from Belief in Fiction. It's a wasted gift on you, but maybe not for others.

Merry Christmas anyway.

So now you are morphing this to basically orange man bad.

Trump is going to play just like Biden and Harris (- and Obama) that he will give more attention and special access to members of the media that he feels are less likely to be critical.

Being willing to face a hostile press corps is actually relatively recent. FDR was the first to have regular press conferences… but was very picky on who was allowed.

Truman was a bit more open, but did throw the ones who criticized his daughter out.

So, gee, it was a Republican who let the press be confrontational.

It stayed that way until Nixon tried to play games and it didn’t work.

Regan didn’t limit, but he was certainly willing to call on people more who were pleasant.

Bush the elder didn’t restrict them.

Clinton started some restrictions.

Bush Jr pretty much had the press wide open- heck he got a shoe thrown at him in one of his overseas conferences…

Obama pretty much had fawning press coverage, but was very picky on who he called on (he rarely would answer Fox reporters questions) and if I recall right his administration did remove a few from the pool.

FDR used the power of radio mass communication to push his policies. Trump was the first to bypass the traditional media and go straight to the public with social media.

Then we had Trump who never refused to talk, although he did threaten to remove credentials from some folks.

Biden just didn’t have open press conferences…

So we are going down the road back towards the old days of presidents picking and choosing who they want to talk with. I agree that’s not great, but it’s not censorship.

Suing the press for being factually inaccurate or biased and libelous has always been legal and isn’t censorship, either. It’s a pretty high bar, and one that seems to be lowering over time (which I have no issue with) but I doubt that it’s going to change much.

Which party has a bigger list of grievances? I think they both are about the same over time.

Trump’s statements about things tend to be hyperbolic and confrontational. It’s not very friendly or traditional politically. However, generally, unlike other presidents you can predict what he is going to do… he says it.

Contrast that to Obama. He was much more articulate, likable, and considered. But you really never knew what President Obama was going to do until it was put on paper, and even then things like the ACA you really didn’t know until a couple years later what all the fine print was doing.

President Obama was much more like what we expect of a president than Trump, but he was very hard to pin down on details, contrasted to Trump who is easy to get to give details, it’s just they are often things that either can’t or shouldn’t be done, and he should know better- if he does, it’s a rather lowbrow way of trying to project changes… but it does seem to work at the price of angering a part of the electorate.

The righties have been getting that for the last 4 years now.

There shouldn’t be any sacred cows in the nonprofit realm.

A quote from the article:

"Fears have been raised by the Trump second term agenda’s considerable overlap with Project 2025, a policy blueprint from the Heritage Foundation think tank that includes plans to attack non-profits, researchers and civil society groups that have challenged election denial narratives."

==================

So, Trump's motives seem different in my estimation.

Now don't go making false equivalences again. Trump's motives all hinge on his narratives supporting his lies. It's a fascist thing. I haven't analyzed the motives behind the claims you made about leftists doing something similar. IMO that's history. Whatever it was doesn't justify Trump.

"Fascist is as fascist does". Magine Enigam

Good lawyers usually like to be paid, and their other clients pay them. Why work for a guy with a record of stiffing lawyers and other creditors?

Who represented Trump in his ass kicking of ABC and the Greek midget? There must have been some horrible evidence about them being democrat operatives, I mean journalists.
They were not threatened, they were spanked.

I bet that guy gets paid.

If he's smart, he'll run the settlement check through his client trust account.
