There is only one reason for any politician to object to fact checking; they want the freedom to lie.

Fact checking is NOT a matter of "X said this but Y disagrees"; opinions are not facts.

Fact checking is when "X says Y claimed C in a speech in Milwaukee last Tuesday but a check of the transcript shows Y never claimed C." That is not a matter of opinion, X is simply lying.

Trump refused the traditional "60 Minutes" interview because they always fact check; Harris did the interview.

Vance, in what should be the moment that follows him forever and is brought up every time his name is uttered, whined about his lie being fact checked at the Vice Presidential debate.

It's simple, those who object to fact checking want to lie to you unfettered.
