This topic depresses me greatly because it just makes me aware of how much we have lost, as a society. We have seen new regulations of gun ownership and use, on both sides of the border. We have seen a tremendous amount of interference in the marketplace, as far as guns and shooting supplies are concerned. There are restrictions in place which make it more difficult for me to travel to matches in the US. The State Department decided it was bad to export things like scope mounts and barrel blanks to what is, apparently, their enemy to the north. To a large extent, interference in the marketplace is what caused me to forsake gunsmithing as a primary pursuit and make my money elsewhere (financially a good decision, mind you!)
My father, a rifle shooter like myself, commented many years ago on the proliferation of shooting pursuits with used human silhouettes as targets. The thing that struck me was, the more restrictions which came into effect, the more the human silhouette targets and battle scenario games became popular. There is a connection.
The last gun show at which I had a table was last spring. This was probably at least ten years since I had last set up at a gun show. What struck me was the lack of hunters and serious shooters. Instead, there were a whole bunch of make-believe commando types and quite a few gangsta types. This was at a venue which used to be a center for hunting and target shooting.
I'll quit moaning now, I'm just too bummed out. Regards, Bill.

Credit where credit due…Trump did make a blunder about African Hunting.

I was the first person to get ivory imported after the 0bama suspension. I was interviewed by the NY Times about that. The whole interview the reporter tried to make it that Biden was better for hunters than Trump and while I was able to get some in…they could really give a shit about elephant conservation.

It was not a blunder. It kept on place elephant and lion bans.

His position as president did great harm to hunting as conservation in the minds of US citizens.

It was not a blunder nor a misstep. It is his belief that is most hatful and made policy.

You should have your paralegal post for you so that we can interpret what you are saying.

It was a blunder on his part. He listened to the wrong individual.

But even with that…every African outfitter I deal with has had me to buy them a Trump cap.

A blunder is a mistske.

He did it intentionally with his eyes wide open bc it is what he believes.

You can keep making excuses for him all you want.

He misled voters who vote as hunting conservation as a matter of policy. His words as president has a terrible impact on the image of hunting in the body politic.

President Roosevelt made hunting an activity people wanted to do. Hemingway was greatly impacted as a child by the Rosevelt Safari.
Hemingway impacted Robert Ruark to Chapstick.

The social positions these men held had a social positive impact on hunting conservation.

Trump as president had that influence. Trump as president used the words image of hunting to condemn hunting conservation to the body politic.

It was not a blunder. It was purposeful and what he believed.

Probably. We have to take into account who the gun control industry is trying to please, and what they will want next.
There is no plan to disband the gun control industry for lack of purpose once their stated goals are met.

It was not a mistake. It is what he thinks is right.

It is only a mistake if he was misled or ignorant to the arguments.

He chose the path he thought was correct.

He misled hunters and hunting conservation groups as to what he really believed.

It was purposely and intentionally.

Totally incorrect. He made the mistake of listening to the wrong side. I believe he learned his lesson from the mistake he made. His son tells me he has and he has met with political groups of hunting orgs and stated as much.

There are though many anti-hunting Republicans though I will grant you.

I know what Donald Trump said and when he said it.

I don’t care about Fon Jr.

I can call him today if I wanted to donate to his father’s awful and harmful campaign.

You tell Don Jr that America is not a vulgarity country just because his father was given due process.

You tell Don Jr to be faithful to his wife.

You tell Don Jr to turn west and stop walking when he falls down or hits water.

Yes, you can tell him his father is a lier.

Harris is a threat to ownership of AR-15s. If she gets in, and brings a majority of both houses of Congress with her, they'll probably try to ban them, and maybe succeed.

They'd still have to get by a formidable hurdle: the Supreme Court's Second Amendment precedent. If the Court adheres to its precedent, an AR-15 ban would be overturned.

Even if they do succeed in banning them, it would be worth it to avoid the disaster of allowing Trump in the presidency again.

Estimates vary but there are around 20 million in circulation. There is no way to "ban" them. Never happen.

Gun ownership under Harris isn't going to change.

Proliferation. Firearms and wild hogs in America have a lot in common.

I'm my mind we've been panic buying and hoarding guns and ammo since before 9/11. I don't see any way to confiscate guns at this point.

If Harris wants to get serious about gun safety she'll get the NRA back in the schools teaching gun safety and education as well as subsiding gun safes and cabinets.

Not hardly, other than by name COVID was essentially non-existent here in 2019. Didn't start until shortly into 2020.

My wife claims that we had it in early February of 2020, when I don't believe there was even a documented case of it in the U. S. A.
