From the reports I have heard from people in DC, most of the NG is deployed on and around the Mall . . . no where near the high crime areas in DC. I continue to believe it is a test. Trump wants to test the waters on how far the MAGAts are willing to ride with him on militarizing major cities (which happen to be the blue dots on election return maps) in advance of 2026 and 2028. So far, the MAGAts have demonstrated they continue to be blissfully ignorant.

Why don't they go in and root out the gangs? I bet there would be some shootouts. Isn't that what some of them want, the ones with itcy trigger fingers?

Not all the guard.
I talked to a teacher friend. She's a Filipino teacher in Brentwood.
She has been going in to get set up, and noticed a big reduction in the street corner toughs. The kids that have come in to school early to help, are much less stressed she said.
She has hopes for a good start for students. But, she said the only time poor kids count is when political points can be made on them.

Another tough google search would tell you that there are no NG troops deployed there.

"There are no specific reports of National Guard troops being deployed in the Brentwood neighborhood of Washington, D.C., as of August 27, 2025."

As noted previously, they're deployed around the Mall. Where, again, as noted previously, the crime wave is so prevalent that they have been deployed to pick up trash and rake leaves.

Mayor Bowser said
quote:
"MPD has been doing the job with community and all of their partners in government to drive down violent crime in the District of Columbia," Bowser said. "We have, in fact, experienced a 26% decrease, and that's on top of the 35% decrease we saw in violent crime last year. Having said that, we never take our foot off the gas, and we're never satisfied with any level of crime."

The DC mayor says it's working, mike ... but you are a corporate lawyer, not a criminal one ...

I doubt that, but she's under his thumb, more or less.
Most of his underlings get the picture sooner or later.

Except Rex Tillerson, who didn't have to care.

I suspect that criminals are taking a vacation while this goes on. Trump has the attention span of a fruit fly, and things will soon go back like there were. They can wait him out...

Wonder how the statistics being touted by the Administration compare to the “normal” statistics. Disingenuous to attribute every arrest or seizure to the NG, when arrests and seizures were made before the NG presence too.
