| You're right for once knucklehead....actually, the consensus is both uniform and reliable.

| I knew nothing about the use of acetaminophen during pregnancy until I started looking at studies. I do not care what Trump said about the subject, there are replacement medicines with the same results that have no concerns. So why not use a different medicine? |

| Fuck you Mitchell. Ann cited studies that cast doubt on what you said. Why not use another product? |

| Because all the alternatives have more significant effects. After looking in to the studies Trump is touting, there is association, not causation. That may mean they need to do a more definitive study, but getting folks to agree to a double blind study on their baby is challenging. The ACOG position is reasonable, they are saying that there has been research that shows the medication is safer than the alternatives. Note that ACOG is not recommending taking acetaminophen for minimal or no reason. They recommend you discuss it with your doctor and use it when it is needed. quote: Originally posted by MLindsay: I knew nothing about the use of acetaminophen during pregnancy until I started looking at studies. | Tylenol is the drug of choice for febrile illness during pregnancy to lower temperature. PERIOD! No drug should be taken during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. Tylenol isn’t used during pregnancy for the occasional headache or muscle strain. As usual orange jesus and Dr Brainworm are full of shit. The total amount of scientific education between the 2 of them is probably less than a month.

| Well, just a short review of a few studies show that any and ALL medicines for pain and fever have shown some potential for fetal problems. Period. I did not know this. |

| I'm inclined to believe what Doc Butler says, as opposed to hearsay about various studies. |

| No Problem. Dr. Butler is far more qualified than I am. However there is a Harvard study saying there is potential problems with acetaminophen.
I am sure some researchers from Harvard know more than me. |

You mean you don’t believe orange jesus and Dr Brainworm?? HERESY. EVERYONE KNOW THAT THEY ARE OMNIPOTENT! Avoiding any OTC or prescription drug during pregnancy has been the medical advice for decades and hasn’t changed. However high fever during pregnancy definitely has adverse fetal effects and Tylenol is the best choice to treat it.

| This seems like reasonable meta-analysis. As I said before, it’s a complicated topic but even in the literature search cited here it looks like acetaminophen is accepted as a risk factor in NDD. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8449704/All we can do is read the info as best as we can understand it and use it as we are able. |
